Who we are 

Data is one of the foundations of ING’s strategy to become one digital bank, and Data Operations is the place to operationalize and execute our data strategy. The Data Operations organization will fulfil ING’s strong belief that data is key in ING’s ambition to become a data-driven digital bank, where we need more granular data of high quality to manage the bank-wide (customer-) processes, modeling, and decision-making. As a Consultant in Global Data Quality, you will be part of Data Operations and will be key in delivering our promise of “ensuring data quality” for ING across the globe.  

 
Job description 

With an increased appetite for consuming data and regulatory pressure to demonstrate data quality coverage, we need to maintain high standards in Data Quality. The Global Data Quality function is responsible for operationalizing ING Data Quality strategy, translating it into services, and executing globally to ensure we maintain those high standards for ING data. As a Consultant in the Global Data Quality team, you will take on wide range of responsibilities and will contribute greatly to ING’s data quality ambitions.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Advise and support the DQ Expert Lead in developing the long-term strategic agenda, preparing plans to deliver priorities and monitoring progress on initiatives and day-to day activities 
  • Drive project-based initiatives such as revamping dashboards and creating new services, rolling out global project-based activities e.g., roll out tools (Pegasus), a global Data Quality Target Operating Model, enhance the MBB DQ dashboard, lead DQ tooling selection and implementation, Ad-hoc regulatory (JST, ECB) requests, MBB actions (e.g., creating Data Products maturity indicators, explore automation opportunities), identify and implement process improvements 
  • Closely collaborate with Data Quality Experts and Product Owners to contribute to development of data quality strategy & roadmap, including the implementation of our upgraded Data Quality approach and establishment of a robust bank wide Data Quality Target Operating Model  
  • Work on establishing a strong Data Quality community across ING locations, ensuring strong cooperation, and aligned execution of data quality practices across entities 
  • Prepare external/internal presentations and quarterly reports (a.o., facilitate preparation of ING Data Quality facts to senior management and regulatory parties, collect content for the DQ newsletter) 
  • Provide DQ training and support to end-users and stakeholders on data quality dashboard, Target operating model and Activity Role matrix to promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability 
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data quality management, and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement  

 

This position provides a broad insight across the global ING organization and requires someone who combines common sense, curiosity and maturity with excellent judgment, discretion, and integrity. The ideal candidate is a self-directed executor who helps orchestrate progress effectively in front of and behind the scenes. Strong communication skills are a must as well as being comfortable with ambiguity and high work pressure. Because you never shy away from a challenge, you take the wheel in the planning and coordination of initiatives and projects and act as the linking pin to other business units and global functions.
