This role is a 12 month FTC and reports to the Data Manager who oversees the proprietary content for the short-term power products. The successful candidate will be a crucial member of the Data team, at the forefront of our Energy Transition data business.
The Data Analyst will work with a team of cross-functional experts and support how Wood Mackenzie’s ingestion and republication of renewable and energy transition data. The role holder will manage, monitor and execute the delivery of industry leading data that will underpin our client offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise between product owners and developers on product requests
- Create collection specification requirements unique to each data set, allowing the development team to create automated collection scripts
- Collaborate with product owners to understand the most important data to collect, and identify their priority
- Follow existing processes to manage each collection request from start to finish
- Execute data management tasks on collected data sets
- Maintaining the existing data streams and minimizing downtime due to source changes
- Research data sources for announced publication changes
- Identify and respond to issues in data sources, such as new URLs, new or missing data, or changes to publication terms & conditions
- Create and maintain mappings between original source and internal systems
- Perform analysis and quality control on data sets, including cleansing and backfill operations
- Research and stay updated on power grid infrastructure changes
- Create and maintain documentation for all data collections
- Respond to queries and concerns from external clients, providing basic customer support
Qualifications
About You
You will be a self-starter, energised by a challenge, passionate about maintaining a high standard of quality to support an equally high-quality product. You can adapt to new ways of working – and enjoy collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. You will ideally have experience in working in the energy sector – preferably in power and renewables generation, power trading, or consulting.
Knowledge & Experience
- Fluency in English
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in a STEM field
- Ability to design and write SQL statements
- Experience working with large data sets
- Ability to both work solo to complete tasks and to collaborate in a team of peers
- Experience in research and documentation
