About the team
Cloudflare’s mission is to help build a better internet and the Trust & Safety Engineering (TSENG) team lives at the core of that effort. This team collaborates with Cloudflare’s Trust & Safety and Legal teams to develop services and tooling to efficiently address abuse, enable deeper coordination with our external industry anti-abuse partners, and ensure that teams in the company can respond to the quickly changing legal landscape of the internet with scalable tools and services.
About the Role
The Trust & Safety Data Analyst will be a member of the Trust & Safety Engineering team, working alongside the engineers who build and maintain our internal abuse response tooling, but will also serve as an embed resource in the Trust & Safety team. This data analyst will work cross-functionally to deeply understand operational processes on the Trust & Safety team, changes and trends in abuse data over time, and regulatory requirements for reporting.
This role will be based out of our Lisbon office.
What you’ll do
You will be responsible for development and maintenance of critical reports and interactive dashboards related to abuse trends and volume as well as T&S operational metrics and SLA tracking. Communication skills are critical as you will interface directly with stakeholders to build shared understanding of insights and opportunities surfaced from your analysis. As an expert on T&S data, you can expect to perform ad hoc analysis and present findings to a range of audiences from executives to peers. Alongside your work to drive visibility and insights internally, you will also contribute to external communication in supporting development of Cloudflare’s Transparency Report.
Responsibilities include
- Develop and maintain a suite of interactive/exploratory dashboards for T&S leadership as well as executive-level reporting.
- Conduct ad hoc analysis of operational and product data to support decision-making, identify areas for improvement, and assess the effectiveness of Trust & Safety activities.
- Work closely with Trust & Safety team members, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand business problems and requirements.
- Document data analysis methodologies, dashboard specifications, and best practices to ensure compliance, transparency, reproducibility, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and optimize processes for data collection, schema design, analysis, and reporting.
Desirable skills and experience
- At least 2 years experience as a data analyst or business analyst.
- Proven experience in data analysis and dashboard development with proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or LookerStudio.
- Strong experience working with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL and BigQuery
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and transparent assumptions
- Experience with at least one programming language like Python or R
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Curious self-learner who is able to ask as many questions as you answer
Bonus
(Relevant but not required – we love to learn on the job!)
- Strong knowledge of networking and “how the Internet works” (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS)
- Experience working in the Trust & Safety or legal domain space
- Experience with network analysis or graph databases
- Experience in database management or schema design
What Makes Cloudflare Special?
We’re not just a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company. We’re a highly ambitious, large-scale technology company with a soul. Fundamental to our mission to help build a better Internet is protecting the free and open Internet.
Project Galileo: We equip politically and artistically important organizations and journalists with powerful tools to defend themselves against attacks that would otherwise censor their work, technology already used by Cloudflare’s enterprise customers–at no cost.
Athenian Project: We created Athenian Project to ensure that state and local governments have the highest level of protection and reliability for free, so that their constituents have access to election information and voter registration.
Path Forward Partnership: Since 2016, we have partnered with Path Forward, a nonprofit organization, to create 16-week positions for mid-career professionals who want to get back to the workplace after taking time off to care for a child, parent, or loved one.
1.1.1.1: We released 1.1.1.1 to help fix the foundation of the Internet by building a faster, more secure and privacy-centric public DNS resolver. This is available publicly for everyone to use – it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Here’s the deal – we don’t store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy commitment and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.
Sound like something you’d like to be a part of? We’d love to hear from you!
