The role in a nutshell
The role is based within the People Team and is to extrapolate insights from the data that we collect on our people and their experience of Luno. This will allow the team to drive better decisions and inform our People strategy. Your role will involve ensuring data accuracy, facilitating self-service and delivering compelling stories through dashboarding.
Your mission will involve:
- Work closely with the relevant stakeholders to understand their People data needs
- Determine the data needed to address the business needs while ensuring it is of the highest quality, reliable and trusted
- Suggest improvements to data collection and requirements, based on research
- Interpret trends, patterns in data and provide the business with actionable insights
- Design metrics to help assess how the business is performing on it’s people metrics in real-time
- Build visually compelling dashboards that communicate insights to stakeholders (often non technical) to allow data informed decision making
- Provide support with the data needs for people processes such as budgeting, salary reviews & benefits as well as reporting standards such as gender pay gap reports

- You are familiar with data governance principles and best practices
The ideal Lunaut will have:
To be successful in this role, you’ll have to have an investigative mind with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in the natural sciences or technical fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology or Economics
- A minimum of 2 years experience in the data space
- Experience using data, reports and graphs is essential. Experience working with business intelligence platforms such as Looker, Tableau, Cognos or Qlik would be an advantage
- Refined exploratory data analysis skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of optimising report and query performance
- SQL, Python, Pyspark skills would be an advantage
- A passion for storytelling and data visualisation
- Ability to work independently, as well as within and across multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to successfully complete projects with large and/or incomplete data sets
- Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments
- Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- High level of integrity as you will be working with confidential data and information
