Context/Scope:
Seychelles Breweries has been operating in Seychelles since 1972 and is part of Diageo International.
SBL is proud of its heritage, growth of its brands and people.
It enjoys a market leader position as a premium drinks company but is facing an increasingly tough and challenging business environment.
SBL’s operational activities include Manufacturing (Brewing & Packaging) of Beers, RTDs and Soft drinks, Marketing, Sales and Distribution (both SBL products and Diageo Spirits).
The Operations department’s role is critical to ensure consistent supply of our products at the right time, volume, quality, and cost whilst keeping everybody on site safe.

Purpose of the role:

Monitor the quality and processing parameters of the brewing processes to ensure processes are working effectively and any issues are identified and rectified on a timely manner for the attainment of high-quality products.

Work closely with the CODEX brewer to trend KPIs and identify areas to drive improvements.

Work closely with the Brewing Continuous Improvement Lead to identify training needs to drive improvements in analytical and process compliance, and SIC filling
-
Work closely with the Quality team to ensure analytical results are accurate and reliable.

Trending and maintaining of all analytical KPI for the brewing processes.
-
Daily verification and calibration of testing equipment in brewhouse to ensure accurate, reliable and reproducible results at all times.

Implementing Statistical Process Control daily for all analysis/ checks done by the Operators in brewhouse
-
Apply manufacturing Excellence tools and techniques (DMAIC project, RCPS, 5S) to improve performance)
-
Participate in 5-Why root cause problem solving and identifies root causes for performance improvements.
Key Accountabilities
-
Monitoring compliance to daily analysis and ensuring all checks are done according to the sampling plan.
-
Reviewing and trending the daily analytical results for wort, fermenting beer, storage beer and filtered beer, and ensuring the results are accurate and reliable.
-
Daily monitoring of fermentation and ensuring investigations are done for any lagged or fast fermentation.
-
Daily monitoring of fermentation and ensuring the DPVs are crashed cooled on time.
-
Tracking and trending non-conforming analytical parameters throughout all the processes and ensuring RCPS are carried out to detect and eliminate causes and drive improvements.

Tracking yeast propagation KPI in YPV and drive improvement to ensure KPI is consistently at > 95%.

Tracking east performance on daily basis and liaising with the Microbiology team on propagation schedule.

Reviewing the brewing SIC and capturing the data in the CODEX deck.
-
Reviewing the daily analytical analysis and capturing data in the IPQI file.
-
Providing support to the CODEX Brewer to lead projects to improve CODEX, IPQI and Yeast propagation KPI.

Conduct Audit as may require and implement corrective action generated from Audit.
Qualifications:
- Relevant IBD qualification Minimum (General Certificate in Brewing) or willing to complete.

Advanced formal training or qualified through experience.
Experience Essential:

At least 2 years’ work experience in production or laboratory roles

Very good knowledge of analytical methods, techniques and standards
-
Very good understanding of Statistical Process Control and operational excellence techniques
-
Very good knowledge of the brewing processes
-
Proactive structured problem evaluation & solving skills.
-
Good Computer literacy skill- able to use excel and Microsoft office and power point effectively to compile data and trend KPI, prepare report and presentations.

Capable of interpreting quality results efficiently.
