About the role

DS Smith is looking for an ambitious, driven and analytical professional for our position as Data Analyst in our Athens office. We are an international supplier of recycled packaging for consumer goods looking for a Data Analyst to provide support to Group Procurement. The successful candidate will partner with the Global Procurement Category Teams, Procurement Regional Teams, Procurement Finance, Group IT, external IT consultants and the Senior Management of Group Procurement. 

We are looking for a highly analytical person, who is able to solve complex problems and has a high level of commercial acumen, to strive in a team environment and have the ambition to design new processes and KPIs to drive operational excellence.

Main functions and responsibilities

  • Own the monthly reporting cycle of project savings tracking, savings reporting Vs budget, preparation of the monthly Senior Management material for the Procurement Leadership meetings, Procurement Review meetings and Trading Meeting

  • Interprets data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports around project management, project reporting, savings overview. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Create and own master data processes around all Procurement aspects within our Group. 

  • Data Analyst support for the Procurement Spend Analytics programme: develop interactive Dashboards in Power BI, process the master data practices, consolidate various datasets into a database

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems

  • Analyse and report the working capital performance for AP and support ongoing analysis per supplier and per customer, as well as Category and Regional overviews

  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing data extract reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems

  • Extract datasets and create reports and dashboards to accommodate the effective monitoring of savings activities and values across the DS Smith Group for the Procurement Leadership

  • Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Perform ad hoc analysis where required to assist in decision making process

About You

  • Relevant experience within a Data Management & Reporting environment

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Knowledge of databases, data mining and analysis software (e.g. SQL) and power query (Power BI will be considered a plus)

  • Excellent analytical and influencing skills with strong business acumen

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with different levels of stakeholders

  • Ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to work independently

  • Fluent in business level English, written and verbal

  • Bachelors degree (Master’s Degree is considered a plus)

This role will be based in our Athens office in the Central / South district, next to Agios Dimitrios station.
