US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.
This hybrid position will require periodic client-site work. Applicants must reside within a commutable distance of Washington, D.C.
The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and translating complex data into information that is accessible. Identifies trends and patterns to help organizations make better business decisions and improve performance. He/She will be focused on compiling Personally Identifiable Information (PII) elements across the organization’s systems and documenting them in detail.
The Data Analyst will work in a high-profile agency in the Executive Branch, at the very center of government management. Superior communication skills, the ability to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze information technology (IT) data, prepare data-rich presentations and dashboards for senior government leaders and stakeholders, and great attention to detail are necessary for this role. The ideal candidate is someone who is eager and possesses a strong work ethic as they will be expected to excel in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze, organize, and transform data into dashboard visualizations and understandable reports.
- Develop business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, database objects, ETL scripts, and SQL queries to extract information from data sets.
- Develop and identify existing and valuable metrics, conduct analysis, and identify gaps in data.
- Bring technical expertise to ensure the quality and accuracy of IT data.
- Explain intricate technical processes in non-technical terms, and modernize, maintain, and streamline reports for technical and non-technical presentations to leadership.
- Organize and format data to ensure efficiency and quality in data storage and retrieval.
- Prepare and present quantitative data for an executive audience.
- Analyze policy implementation requirements to understand necessary metrics.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and connect data across databases and information sources using various tools
- Create and update automated scripts to generate reports, graphs, charts, and data tables from data sets
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis
- Provide data model support to DBAs and developers
- Deliver written and oral presentations summarizing results of analysis
- Support growth initiatives through knowledge sharing and acquiring relevant certifications
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in data analytics including at least 4 years of experience creating reports utilizing report writing software or Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI.
- Experience using advanced SQL commands.
- Experience working with relational databases.
- Experience with SQL optimization using indexes and query optimization.
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and pivot tables.
- Experience supporting IT related projects.
- Experience with Python programming language.
- Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity, and a “helping others helps us all” personality.

- Prior experience in business case evaluation or quantitative decision making
- Ability to present quantitative data to an executive audience

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with federal agency offices including the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
- Familiarity with development and implementation of IT related policies.
- Hands-on experience with R, Python, or other statistical research and analysis software
- Experience with some or all the following tools:
- SQL/MySQL, and Dynamic SQL
- JavaScript, HTML, GitHub
- Prior experience with writing and executing SQL queries or with Microsoft Access query and report design
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Econometrics, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline

Internal title/grade: Data Analyst 7
Salary Range: $117,500 – $125,000
All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to, and successfully pass, a pre-employment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work. The pre-employment background investigation will include verification of employment and education, as well as, a criminal and DMV check.
Additional documentation and background checks will also be required for positions that require clearance from the Federal government.
