Shift5 is seeking a Data Analyst to join our growing team. The Data Analyst will fulfill a vital role in our organization by conducting full lifecycle data analysis to include requirements definition and digging into large data sets. They’ll also be charged with finding trends, anomalies, and usable information that can then be transferred into reports, rules, dashboards, and lead further investigations to enrich data sets. You will turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into business decisions. You will operate in a team-based environment with Field Engineers, Data Engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and Mission Success. Successful candidates for this position will have a bias toward action and enjoy finding patterns amid chaos, a background in a quantitative or technical field, experience working with large data sets, and in-depth data-driven decision making experience. What to expect in your first 90 days:
- Anomaly Analysis: Work with the Mission Success team to locate, analyze, and determine causality of anomalies. Surface anomaly causality to internal and external stakeholders.
- Time series Analysis: Identify behaviors in data over time for predictive trends.
- Exploratory Data Analysis: Work with a new source of industrial operational data to help infer structure for downstream engineering and analysis.
- Metrics Creation and Analysis: Tackle the “why” of analysis. Help translate data into operational insights.
Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, MIS, or equivalent practical experience required
- Strong proficiency in data science disciplines that provide inferential insights to solve problems.
- Proven experience conducting quantitative analysis to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in languages such as Python, R, and SQL for modeling and querying data in an effective and resilient manner to produce queries, reports, and presentations of findings
- Proficiency in modern BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, etc. for producing insights and findings to a wide range of stakeholders
- Astute written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to consistently and cogently address our customers’ needs
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented culture, delivering a significant individual contribution while collaborating with and strengthening teammates
- Experience integrating API-based commercial software products
- Experience with integration of cloud-based services with internally hosted solutions
- Must be able to work with remotely distributed teams and should expect up to 30% travel to attend customer on-site visits, internal team travel, and one-off events.
- US Citizenship
- Active (or ability to hold/obtain) a US Government Top Secret security clearance
