Job Description

Your Mission (What We Want These Roles to Accomplish and Their Impact)

We are hiring two Assistant Facilitators as contractors, each with a distinct focus, to collaborate with the Facilitator and ensure an exceptional student experience throughout the courses. These roles will help learners fully understand the curriculum, developed by LSE in collaboration with employers and tech companies, by bringing the content to life through the sharing of industry knowledge and practical insights.

Both Assistant Facilitators will play a crucial part in engaging and supporting learners, fostering an interactive learning environment, and providing 1:1 support to guide learners through specific challenges. They will also assist in grading assignments and providing detailed feedback to ensure learners stay on track and continuously improve.

Rate per Course:  £1,695, £30 per assignment marking

Time Commitment: Between 55 and 80 hours per course (each course has a 6 week duration)

Assistant Facilitator – Role 1 (Focus: Social Learning and Community Engagement)

  • 1:1 Learner Support: Provide personalised 1:1 sessions to learners, helping them navigate challenging topics and stay motivated throughout the course.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate community forums by posting and responding to learner comments, driving engagement with the material, and encouraging social learning.
  • Motivating Learners: Actively guide learners through discussions that bring the course content to life and make it relevant to real-world business use cases.
  • Real-World Relevance: Use industry knowledge to provide learners with practical examples that show how course content applies to current business challenges and solutions.

Assistant Facilitator – Role 2 (Focus: Employer Projects and Assessment)

  • 1:1 Learner Support: Similar to the community-focused role, provide 1:1 sessions to support learners as they work through challenging course content and projects.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Take responsibility for marking assignments, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring learners receive the guidance they need to improve.
  • Employer Project Facilitation: Facilitate group sessions for learners working on Employer Projects, attend live presentations, and provide feedback on group work, ensuring learners meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Project Milestone Support: Work closely with learners to help them meet key project milestones, offering guidance to ensure successful completion of assignments and presentations.

What The Rest of your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

  • 1:1 Support: Both roles will provide personalised 1:1 sessions to learners, ensuring they have the guidance they need to overcome challenges and stay on track.
  • Facilitating Learning: Ensure learner understanding of the curriculum, bringing real-world relevance to course concepts and business applications.
  • Engagement and Motivation: Foster a collaborative learning environment through social learning discussions or group sessions, depending on your focus.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Mark assignments, provide detailed feedback, and guide learners through project submissions to support their academic and professional growth.

By working collaboratively with the course Facilitators, both roles will contribute to the success and development of our learners, helping them gain valuable skills and confidence throughout the learning journey.

Requirements

What you’ll need to succeed (personal attributes & experience requirements)

  • Extensive full lifecycle Data Analytics experience.
  • Excellent understanding of a range of data analytical tools and software (Excel, Tableau, SQL, Python, R and Rstudio).
  • Demonstrable interest in the future of Data Analytics.
  • Departmental or industry leader (desirable).
  • Facilitator / Online Mentor within the relevant subject matter (desirable).
  • Has a bachelor’s degree (Masters Degree educated desirable).
  • Holds a degree from, or is affiliated with LSE would be preferred (desirable).
  • Industry certifications where applicable.
  • Discipline expertise, in-depth knowledge and skills relevant and current to course objectives.
  • A practising industry professional in roles relevant to course objectives.
  • Demonstrable teaching and mentoring capability at professional or Masters level with a passion to develop the next generation of talent.
  • Engaging communication style that drives student engagement and success.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build learner relationships, empathy and support learning outcomes.
  • An ability to engage and navigate communication and learning technologies
  • Be an evangelist for their business and sector.
  • Be flexible and collaborative in their approach.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence.
  • A clear and concise communicator.
  • Builds rapport easily.
  • Excellent explanatory skills.
