Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advanced Analytics Office is leading an internal platform development that enables real-time analytics and optimization of factory processes. The platform has been implemented at various factories globally and added significant business value. The selected candidate will be a part of a dynamic team working closely with factory operations and the platform development team to provide solutions, specifically designed to address operational analytics challenges. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a team that’s instrumental in Western Digital’s Industry 4.0 journey. We are changing the way how analytics is used across global operations sites. This position covers the following activities:

  • Support (manufacturing) operations analytics projects at global sites.
  • Collect information about the business problems, understand the related current practices and the desired solution.
  • Develop data pipelines for the analytics models, leveraging factory data sources.
  • Develop analytics applications (full stack) with data backbone, integrated analytics engine and WebUI.
  • Support the go-live phase of analytics applications.
  • Maintain the models, participate in CI/CD activities.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent (CS, CE, CIS, IS, MIS, or engineering discipline), experience in industry IT.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including MariaDB and HBase.
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Airflow.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, etc.
  • Experience in PHP, HTML, Java and C++.
  • Experience with DevOps tools: Git, Bitbucket etc.
  • Experience with analytics and applications frameworks: Plotly Dash, Anaconda, Streamlit etc.

SKILLS:

  • Good interpersonal communication skills to contribute as a member of global, distributed teams focused on delivering quality services and solutions.
  • Understand semiconductors manufacturing processes, and the associated operations data to be processed and analyzed.
  • Cooperation skills, to work in a team under supervision of senior experts, while ability to work self-paced on individual assignments too.
  • Able to distill complex technical challenges to actionable and explainable decisions.
  • Work in DevOps teams by building consensus and mediating compromises when necessary.
  • Demonstrate excellent engineering & automation skills in the context of factory optimization using continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD)
  • Demonstrate ability to rapidly learn new and emerging technologies with ability to rapidly define engineering standards and produce automation code.
  • Operational abilities including early software release support and driving root cause analysis and remediation.
  • Ability to Work with and Engage Multiple Functional Groups
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Big data technologies.
  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
  • Experience with the application of industrial engineering practices, WIP Management, Production Control and with preferred experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good abstraction skills, critical thinking and problem solving ability. 
  • Strong English verbal communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
