Job Description

 Introduction

Are you a bachelor or master student in Data Science, Business Informatics or a related technical discipline? Are you looking for an internship that has freedom to come up with innovative solutions? Are you interested in dashboarding with PowerBI? Then this internship might be interesting to you!

Background information

Within Business Line Applications, Development & Engineering, the SCE (SAFe Center of Excellence) team is responsible for the ASML Development Model implementation in our cluster. It consists of Release Train Engineers and agile coaches who are working on driving execution of the System Functions as well as executing the central transformation roadmap. One of the topics on the central transformation roadmap is ‘Metrics’ in which we measure the performance of our teams and Agile Release Trains (team-of-teams). In this workstream, we aim to automate, collect, analyze and provide insights on these performance metrics over all trains in MPC (and partly DDP).

Your assignment

In the context of the above, the Metrics workstream is a small team that drives automation, collection and analysis and provides the trains with insights on our key train and team metrics: predictability, team happiness, customer satisfaction, team and train stability, speed (story and feature cycle time) and aiming to include quality. The teams and trains use JIRA and JIRA Align to manage the day to day execution of our projects, and PowerBI is the chosen tool to create dashboards to provide these insights.

The internship assignment will be a three-part assignment:

  • You learn about ASML and MPC in particular, You learn how large (part of) organizations (7 release trains = +/- 60+ teams) provide performance data You learn how to standardize and interpret this data (with various data quality levels) and automate and visualize it in a dashboard used by many stakeholders.
  • At the end of the internship, you will have built competence in automation and dashboarding in PowerBI, stakeholder management and performance management of Agile Release Trains and Agile teams.
  • There is a large amount of freedom in coming up with innovative solutions (e.g. machine learning/AI) to enhance data analysis, and this is even encouraged. Depending on complexity.

Your Profile

To be a perfect match for this internship, you:

  • Are a bachelor or master student studying Data Science, Business Informatics or a related technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of (analytical) software (e.g. Python, Power BI, Jira, Excel) and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects.).
  • Experience with agile is a plus.
  • You are able work independently and have an interest in data processing, automation and visualization of data.

This internship is possible to complete as either an apprenticeship (to gain work experience) or a graduation (thesis) internship. The complexity can be adjusted to meet your needs. The internship opportunity is for 6 months, for 5 days a week, starting as soon as possible.

Please note that we can only consider students who are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship.

Change the world – one nanometer at a time

Become an intern at a Dutch company that’s a global industry leader. You’ll gain valuable experience in a highly innovative environment – one that sparks your imagination and creativity. In addition to a monthly internship allowance of maximum €600 (plus a possible housing and free public transport), you’ll get practical guidance from experts in the field and the chance to work in and experience a dynamic team environment.

ASML – be part of progress

ASML is a high-tech company headquartered in the Netherlands. We manufacture the complex lithography machines that chipmakers use to produce integrated circuits, or computer chips. What we do is at the heart of all the electronic devices that keep us informed, entertained and connected. Every day, you use electronics that simply wouldn’t exist without our machines.

Behind ASML’s innovations are engineers who think ahead. The people who work at our company include some of the most creative minds in physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, chemistry, mechatronics, optics, mechanical engineering, computer science and fields which are not technical oriented.

We believe we can always do better. We believe the winning idea can come from anyone. We love what we do – not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.

Students – getting ready for real-world R&D!

We’re a global team of about 40,000 people of 120 different nationalities and counting. Headquartered in Europe’s top tech hub, the Brainport Eindhoven region in the Netherlands, our operations are spread across Europe, Asia and the US.

In such an environment, your colleagues may be sitting next door, or they could be thousands of kilometers away in a different country – or even working for a different company.

An internship at ASML is the opportunity to get to know not only the world of the semiconductor industry, but yourself – you’ll discover just what excites you most. Will you design a part of the machine, or make sure it gets built to the tightest possible specifications? Will you write software that drives the system to its best performance, or work side-by-side with the engineers of our customers in a fab, optimizing a system to the requirements of the customer? Anything is possible!

How will you be part of progress?
