Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Florida Digital Service was established to propose innovative solutions that securely modernize state government, including technology and information services, to achieve value through digital transformation and interoperability, and to fully support the state’s cloud-first policy. It is also the lead entity responsible for enterprise cybersecurity.
The Florida Digital Service is searching for a candidate with programming and engineering skills to assist the Office of Data Management. This candidate will be responsible for the design and technical expertise in implementing applications. This candidate will be joining a team of professionals that are dedicated to streamlining data sharing, promoting interoperability within the State, reducing duplication of data received and assisting the State of Florida’s Enterprise Data Community in finding efficiencies in business operations throughout.
Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical support for the State’s Enterprise Data Catalog and Interoperability initiatives.
- Must be proficient in multiple programming languages (e.g. but not limited to C#.Net, Python, R, SQL, Java, JSON) and committed to continuous learning and adoption of new technologies. Adheres to industry best practices for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for data management, ETL processes, and APIs.
- Write programs, queries, and reports to assist with analyzing data and generating actionable insights.
- Build and modify interactive dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx).
- Review and catalog data management practices at state agencies, support data stewardship efforts, and facilitate data migration to data clouds.
- Collaborate to design scalable systems and participate in requirements gathering and design reviews.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert programming skills.
- Experience with building web services with .NET technology.
- Experience with Git or other source code repositories.
- Experience with cloud services.
- Familiarity with a variety of datasets, structured, semi-structured and unstructured, etc.
- Knowledgeable in performance optimization surrounding data delivery and process automation.
- Knowledge of business intelligence software and applications of such software.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze the current state of data, identify the gaps and issues, and provide recommendations for prioritizing actions and improvements.
- Ability to apply System Development Life Cycles (SDLC) methodologies.
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with database design software.
- Experience with Mulesoft.
- Experience with Snowflake and AWS.
- Experience with UX/UI interfaces.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 6 years’ experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Information Technology or another quantitative field.
