What you’ll do
Work as part of an Agile Team to design, build and support distributed ETL pipelines using Big Data technologies on large scale data set, that deliver business critical data

Collaborate directly with Product Owners (US and UK based), Data Source Teams, Data Consumers, Architecture and other teams, to understand requirements, data challenges, technical implementation and solutions that focus on data needs

Participate in demos and showcases to external and internal stakeholders to provide insights into data, get early feedback and sign off

Understand, implement, and follow data engineering best practices in your team and department

Be involved in the end to end of the data lifecycle, ensuring we have effective data governance and documentation to support customers and the teams

Contribute towards analysis best practices and standards and helping consistency of delivery across the team

Work across production issues and technical improvements to continuously improve the platform and the tools used by the teams

Implement a DataOps philosophy in everything you do.
What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree in an Engineering degree

Excellent SQL skills enabling medium-large scale data transformation and analysis
-
Experience performing data analysis across data warehousing projects, applying principles in terms of dimensional modelling and ETL pipeline design

Expertise in designing or developing data models and distributed data pipelines using Big Data technologies on large scale data sets

Experience in cloud based ETL environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services

Solid fundamentals of software & data engineering with proven experience of working in a CI/CD, and test-driven development environment

Strong communication, interpersonal skills and being able to effectively manage multiple priorities ensuring transparency of plans and deliverables

Experience in implementing innovative improvement opportunities and ideas, either technically or data-related such as automation and using scripting languages such as Python

Effective management of multiple priorities and conflicting requests.

Experience with Data Analytics Tools such as Tableau and Data modelling framework tools such as DBT (Data build Tool) desirable

GST-Data – Department overview:
Within the GST ecosystem, Global Streaming Technology Data (GST-Data) department is a central ecosystem where data is ingested from numerous internal and external data sources (Sky OTT, NBCU or 3rd Party sources).
The GST-Data Platform ingests, protects, transforms, stores and prepares data for analytics. Pairing the data with our expert data engineering allows us to enhance the proposition data and empower our stakeholders to make better decisions that better serve our customers.
