Job Description

Our Group Data and Analytics team design and deliver our world class data platform, underpinned by Snowflake, for our internal and external facing business use cases.

You will be an integral member of the Data Engineering team within the Group Data & Analytics capability, responsible for design, delivery and maintenance of our strategic Data platform that spans multiple business units to deliver against specific business functions’ objectives.

What you’ll be doing

This role will be key in contributing to Data & Analytics projects and initiatives, providing opportunities to leverage technical knowledge of Data Engineering, tools and Data Architecture definition.  Additionally, this role will be key in helping our Data Science community to effectively extract value from our core datasets.

The key elements of the role are:

  • Contribute to projects and design data solutions based on requirements from the architects and business initiative owners with a focus on availability, quality and scalability.
  • Build highly scalable data pipelines for both batch and streaming data
  • Processing large amounts of data into Snowflake using Talend, DBT, Airflow and similar to ensure data is readily available for machine learning models, analytics and business intelligence
  • Optimising and maintaining existing data pipelines to improve performance, data quality and increase business impact

 

About you

We’re seeking an experienced Data Engineer with the following:

Essential Skills for the role:

  • Strong Snowflake and SQL knowledge
  • Experience in data warehousing, semantic layer definitions and scaled data consumption patterns
  • Experience of ETL design, implementation and maintenance
  • Aptitude to learn new technologies and analytical methodologies relating to business intelligence and data analysis

It would be desirable if the role holder has:

  • Programming experience, particularly Python.
