Grainger, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer in Lake Forest, IL with the following requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field plus 7 years related experience. Prior experience must include: Design and implement Big Data solutions on a distributed cluster, thereby providing a secure environment for hosting financial data, and eliminating redundant sourcing of transaction data held within traditional warehousing systems; Develop framework for batch data ingestion, build integrated analytical datasets using ETL jobs, and analyze ingested data sets to provide a 360-degree view of data across entities to enable data scientists to provide insights that enhance revenue generation; Improve performance of ETL projects by implementing query optimization techniques, analyzing database objects to maximize cluster resources, and eliminating memory issues during big data parallel processing; Develop big data solutions using Cloudera Data Platform, Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, HBase, Spark, CA7, Teradata, Informatica, Tableau, Python, SQL, and Bash Scripting and mentor junior team members on advanced SQL and modern Data Engineering design principles; Develop and configure system specifications that address business systems requirements, processes, and architecture standards, including Business Requirements, Metadata, Data Flow diagrams, and System Access Information. 100% remote work allowed from anywhere in the U.S. Please submit resume to https://jobs.grainger.com, reference job #306840.
