Brown Brothers Harriman is currently looking for a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join our Capital Partners Datawarehouse team. The candidate should possess expertise in a range of technologies, including ODI (Oracle Data Integrator), Oracle Data Warehouse, PL/SQL, Queries optimization and have good understanding of the Banking domain. As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions that drive our organization’s data-driven decisions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and optimizing Private Banking Data Warehouse environments, experience in building PL/SQL queries, data loading process, ensuring high-performance and scalability to meet the evolving data needs of the various applications.
  • Design and develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) tool and ensuring the seamless flow of data across various systems and databases.
  • Troubleshooting issues on Linux server, Autosys & Momentum.
  • Collaborate with data architects to create and maintain data models that support the organization’s data needs.
  • Implement data quality processes and validation checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, configurations, and best practices.
  • Participate in walk-throughs which review program specifications, source code, and all technical supporting documentation, including screens/reports. Provide feedback in accordance with team standards and guidelines.
  • Code and test changes to programs and their associated components, including (but not limited to) screens, services, modules, queries, and stored procedures.
  • Contributing technical expertise to defining application requirements in collaboration with business analysts, business representatives and others. You must be able to streamline as well as record requirements, perform gap analysis and offer functionality options where appropriate.
  • Participate in implementation of changes, enhancements, and newly developed programs.
  • Conduct technical research and provide recommendations, develop proofs of concept or prototypes, contributing to technical design of applications.
  • Help to identify coding patterns and anti-patterns and enforce implementation of the patterns through code reviews.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including other data engineers, DBA group, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Quickly resolving issues encountered by business lines in the production environment, maintaining a helpful, “high touch” approach to working with business users, performing root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of the Private Banking domain to design data solutions that align with industry-specific regulations, compliance, and best practices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical area
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle – ODI, Oracle Datawarehouse, Oracle PL/SQL, Linux
  • Experience with queries optimization
  • Experience with scripting Windows, Python and Linux scripting.
  • Must have experience in building PL/SQL queries for Oracle Server (incl. stored procedures, functions) and must understand principles of data modelling.
  • High proficiency in development practices: unit testing, Continuous Integration (CI/CD), refactoring, clean code
  • Experience with Bitbucket/GIT source control management
  • Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira)
  • Pro-active approach and good communication skills.

Nice to have:

  • Private Banking domain experience.
  • Working experience in a financial service industry
  • Financial application knowledge like FIS AddVantage, CRD, CRM Pivotal.
  • Experience with Data Fabric or related toolsets.
  • Experience with Cloud Data Computing, Snowflake
