If you like the idea of working in an industry that makes a fundamental difference to the lives of people in your community, then consider a role at Vector.

So much of what we take for granted in our everyday lives is enabled by the work that Vector is doing to ensure our infrastructure is fit for purpose for a rapidly changing future.

Across our networks we are transforming the way that Auckland’s critical infrastructure is delivered through high-tech data-led solutions and customer first thinking. It’s a dynamic, energising place to work because what you do here matters to everyone. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Vector’s Symphony Strategy, ensuring the timely delivery of innovative BI and data solutions.

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer with a passion for data solutions and a proven track record in BI, data engineering, and ETL/ELT pipelines. If you are looking for an opportunity to contribute to the efficient implementation of key BI and data solutions on a modern data platform (Snowflake), we’d love to hear from you.

Reporting to BI & Data Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and optimising end-to-end data solutions, including ingesting complex datasets from various data sources, designing data models, building secure and robust ETL/ELT pipelines, creating data visualisations, and delivering actionable insights to the business. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business processes, ensuring our data solutions meet both current and future needs.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background and excellent interpersonal skills. You will have a strategic mindset and the ability to think holistically, while also being detail-oriented and driven to deliver tangible results.

Skills & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Business Intelligence professional or Data Engineer.
  • Proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with Snowflake.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with Coalesce or similar data transformation tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
  • Knowledge of Kimball Dimensional Modelling methodology.
  • Familiarity with GitHub or other version control tools.
  • Python development experience is a plus.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and drive successful outcomes.
