Overview

eDiscovery Services is the function within the Bank and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Division which is responsible for identifying, preserving, collecting and transferring electronically stored information to internal requestors and external third parties. As a Data Engineer in eDiscovery Services, you shall support the Defensible Disposal program and contribute to the migration of data from legacy on-premises data sources to cloud hosted archiving technologies. Through collaboration with the functional stakeholders, you shall ensure the Banks legal and regulatory obligations towards data preservation and legal hold are defensibly managed and maintained throughout the course of data migration and disposal.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage Structured Query Language (SQL) databases to store, organize and query data to assist in the scoping of data collections and preservations to support the Bank required for legal and regulatory requirements

  • Conduct detailed metadata analysis to identify data and records required for preservation throughout the course of disposal and migration from on-premises data sources to cloud hosted technologies

  • Assist in the design and development of effective data workflows to automate and streamline tasks required throughout the identification, collection and preservation processes

  • Provide streamlined script updates and refactor Python code for gained efficiency and defensibility

  • Collaborate with team members (to understand and capture requirements, design and implement solutions and provide production support in Hadoop environment), collaborate with senior stakeholders to provide clear and insightful reports and metrics to support effective project planning

  • Utilize SQL queries, data profiling tools, and data cleaning techniques to increase accuracy and completeness of data

Skills You’ll Need

  • Experience with Information Technology (IT), ediscovery and electronically stored information

  • Experience in a data analyst or relevant role

  • Understanding of both Python and SQL syntax, data types, variables, and programming concepts

  • Experience of working with large datasets in a Hadoop environment using HDFS, Spark, Impala and Hive

  • Understanding of data gathering, inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and ETL processes in Hadoop libraries

  • Ability to articulate clear and concise updates on the status of project tasks to senior stakeholders across various functions / departments

  • Meticulous attention to detail and critical thinking skills that allow you to closely scrutinize processes to uphold integrity and minimize risk

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $100,000 to $142,250. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
