About FT Specialist

A key part of the FT business, providing significant revenue and contribution to the FT, is FT Specialist (which is part of the wider FT Group Products portfolio). This is an exciting time for FT Specialist as we are enlarging a cross functional product & technology team in Sofia to support the needs of this part of the business. The team’s focus will be across 3 distinct areas:

  • Existing products – protecting existing profit and enabling outcome driven development e.g. increased engagement, acquisition and retention;

  • Incremental growth from existing products – via product extensions, driving additional revenue; and 

  • Diversification – growing and diversifying through new growth initiatives into new markets.

The FT Specialist portfolio consists of 16 different brands including Investors Chronicle, FDI Intelligence, and the Banker, to name a few.

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join the Data team in Sofia to support our FT Specialist teams within the Group Products Programme. The role is based in Sofia.

 

About the role

 
As the Data Engineer on FT Specialist, you will be working to maintain and improve the data architecture and processes of the wider team. Projects might include developing new ETL processes, overseeing improvements to the data pipeline and producing transformational datasets.
There is a high degree of autonomy of systems and priorities within the ST Data team. We’re empowered to work in the best way to deliver value for our stakeholders and the business.
 
This role could be for you if:

  • You are used to taking data from multiple sources and combining them in an efficient and organised data architecture.
  • You have exposure working with a wide variety of data sets and have some experience in data warehouse administration
  • You have experience building ETL processes and data pipelines
  • You are thorough, inquisitive, innovative, ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking
  • You are a pragmatic person that can make decision based on real needs
  • You can evaluate the impact of the different tasks and make judgment calls on their prioritisation
  • You have a university degree in Mathematics/ Computer Science / Statistics / Economics / or similar numerate discipline
  • Advanced SQL skills and proven experience analysing and combining large data sets
  • You are self-motivated, with the ability to manage and follow up on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • You’re able to extract the true value and business need from a business request.

You might also have:

  • Experience working with Python and Airflow
  • Experience of working with AWS databases
  • Have experience in Looker visualisation
