About the role:
Boston Scientific is looking for a talented and passionate Data Engineer to join our R&D Software team. Join our PCI Guidance R&D team and contribute to the development of innovative products that sustain and improve patient lives around the world. Utilize your technical skills and collaborative spirit to foster innovation and drive growth through the efficient development of new products. Operating within a regulated environment demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to procedures. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality products through creative problem-solving while adhering to Quality system requirements.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develop databases and data pipelines to enable organized and fast ingestion and handling of medical imaging data used in Machine Learning Algorithms
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, cloud data engineers, and software engineers to create virtual platforms to host advanced software prototypes
- Investigates, researches, and selects software designs and practices.
- Participates in design and code reviews.
- Participate in Agile software development process and work towards achieving individual and team goals
- Coordinate and collaborate with global team members
- Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters requiring coordination between organizations.
- Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science or related field
- BS and 0-2+ years of relevant work experience
- MS and 0-1+ years of relevant work experience
- 2+ years of consistent coding in Python
- Proficient in Linux environments, with a solid grasp of OS concepts
- Strong understanding of relational databases
- Experience with AWS and cloud technologies
- Strong ability and desire to explore new technical solutions autonomously
Preferred qualifications:
- Machine learning algorithms and tools
- Image and signal processing algorithms and tools
- Manipulating tabular metadata using SQL and Python’s Pandas library
- Manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected datasets
- Cleaning data for supervised learning problems
- Convolutional neural networks
- Image and signal processing algorithms
- Version Control
- Data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, scientific Python libraries)
- Developing software within the medical device industry (or comparable highly-regulated environment)
- Agile or Kanban methodologies
