ABOUT IT AT ROCKET LAB:

Rocket Lab’s IT team is responsible for how our global teams access information and run operations across our computer systems, networks, and devices. Our hardworking IT team is a group of flexible problem-solvers working in a fast-paced environment but who also thrive under the challenge of supporting all of our proprietary systems and people, from finance to launch operations.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

As a Data Engineer, you will work alongside Data Analysts’, Team Leads’, Principal Data Engineer and other business functions to curate and shape datasets, develop data pipelines, look after the data platforms, and contribute towards data housekeeping tasks.

The role will be an active player in developing new durable data pipelines, coding and engagements with the wider Business Intelligence team and departments. This would also involve working with ERP and PLM systems with
a data focus. Contributing to the development of Business Intelligence standards and our technology platform is an important part of the Business Intelligence Data Engineer’s responsibilities as is delivering streamlined data pipelines and assets.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • IT or Computer Science degree or equivalent qualification
  • 1-4+ years’ experience in a technical role. Strong SQL is a must, alongside experience in Python, R, or C#.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex and technical concepts and ideas to a general audience.
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills – able to see the big picture. make connections and appropriate decisions.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • An exceptional multitasker, displaying excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to learn or pick up new concepts or technology quickly.
  • Experience with coaching and mentoring more junior members of the team.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to collaborate within or outside team.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • A market leading ETL tool certification.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL database system
  • Knowledge of Jupyter notebook
