As a Data Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms Digital Workflows team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a data engineering team, you execute data solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Working as a Data Governance Associate, you will be working closely with the ServiceNow Application Owner / Data Governance Lead to manage and be accountable for all aspects of data governance for the ServiceNow platform driving compliance with firm-wide data management standards including data quality/confidentiality/integrity/retention and access management etc.
Job responsibilities
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of the data system components to determine controls needed to ensure secure data access
- Support the ServiceNow Application Owner for all data related activities, including firm-wide assessments and internal/external (SOX/SOC1) audit activities
- Support the role of ServiceNow Firm-wide Data Management partnering effectively with LOB Data Management teams to ensure key data mastered in ServiceNow remains accurate
- Partner with different ServiceNow Core Product teams to support development and testing new/existing data constructs for new capabilities on the platform
- Govern all aspects of the ServiceNow data model change process including approval of new tables and additional columns on existing tables
- Ensure all on-platform data (including metadata) is appropriately classified in line with PI / CI data classification guidelines
- Ensure all off-platform data usage is appropriate by liaising with upstream and downstream integration partners documenting data sourcing contracts in line with firm-wide data sourcing principles
- Document and drive remediation of all related data quality issues, both on-platform and for off-platform consumption of ServiceNow data
- Manage data retention compliance with firm-wide records management policies
- Review and remediate access and entitlement related requirements and exceptions ensuring compliance with policy
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of the data lifecycle and data management functions
- Knowledge of data system components to determine required governance and controls
- Understanding of conceptual, logical and physical database design
- Analytical mind-set, strong attention to detail
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- ServiceNow implementation & data model knowledge highly desirable, but not essential as training and qualification will be provided
- Understanding of IT Service Management / IT Operations Management / IT Asset Management concepts desirable
- Advanced at SQL (e.g., joins and aggregations)
- Experience with statistical data analysis and ability to determine appropriate tools to perform analysis
