As a Data Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Banking – Payment Technology team you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted data collection, storage, access, and analytics solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining critical data pipelines and architectures across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. Analyze Data spanning across various Line of Business and Legal Entities that may be specific to them in structure and form.

Job responsibilities

  • Supports review of controls to ensure sufficient protection of enterprise data
  • Responsible for advising and making custom configuration changes in one to two tools to generate a product at the business or customer request
  • Updates logical or physical data models based on new use cases
  • Must be able to hold design discussions related to consumption, usage and build of the data with the data owners, stakeholders and steer the conversations to meaningful outputs.
  • Must be comfortable in leading discussions with partners to understand their business processes and cater technological solution to their needs.
  • Understand overall product vision and align with the strategy.
  • Understand the current book-of-work and prioritize the upcoming work with stakeholders.
  • Involved in the production of metrics, KPI and analysis to assist the team in making data-driven decisions
  • Frequently uses SQL and understands NoSQL databases and their niche in the marketplace
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience. 
  • Experience across the data lifecycle 
  • Advanced at SQL (e.g., joins and aggregations), Python or Java, Spark, Database (SQL, NOSQL), data lake, Big data, Databricks,  ETL pipelines, AWS or Azure, Terraform, DevOps, CICD pipelines and deployments. 
  • Working understanding of NoSQL databases
  • Ability to analyze and resolve errors, foresee pitfalls and make effective choice of solution.
  • Suggest performance improvement points and fine tune code to deliver necessary efficiencies.
  • Significant experience with statistical data analysis and ability to determine appropriate tools and data patterns to perform analysis
  • Experience customizing changes in a tool to generate product
