Job Description

As part of the Data Operations team at Syngenta Canada, the Data Management & Governance Manager supports other data stakeholders in the team to champion Data & Analytics agenda and collaborates closely with IT, Legal and other data roles to enhance our data architecture, data accuracy, governance, and efficiency of our data pipelines.

This position has a flexible work location and can be based in Calgary, AB, Guelph, ON, and we are open to remote work arrangements across Canada.

Duties:

• Develop a team responsible for overseeing data acquisition and data availability pipelines, master data management (MDM) and governance in order to foster a culture of high performance.
• Guide, support deployment, and maintain data governance program (privacy, regulations, policies, communication).
• Lead efforts to address data quality, consistency, and standardization.
• Coordinate the data architecture, integration of instruments and solutions as well as data availability in collaboration with IT.
• Collaborate with business and technical partners to develop MDM strategies, while engaging in engineering and architecture practices, towards innovation, data delivery and analytics capability.
• Analyze complex data-related issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

• Educational background in a quantitative related field (e.g.: Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent technical expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, data integration, and data architecture.
• 2+ years experience management of technical teams (preferably overseeing data management or data engineering functions).
• Experience with data integration platforms, DBMS like SQL, ETL processes, AWS.
• Excellent understanding of data validation, MDM, data governance frameworks, principles, best practices.
• Excellent understanding of programing languages, SAP, Salesforce CRM & Analytics, visualization, and analytics instruments (eg: Tableau, Power BI, Qlik) and advanced MS Excel.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of data regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing or working with Data as a Service (DaaS) model is an asset.
• Ability to drive change and foster data-driven culture.
