Job Description

Data Quality Officer – Global technology

This is who we are

ING’s strategy is built around our purpose: Empowering people to stay ahead in life and in business. We want to make the difference for people and the planet by providing a superior customer experience and putting sustainability at the heart of what we do.

To make this happen, we need solid data governance. Data about customers, products, agreements, transactions, and operations. In ING’s Global CDO (Chief Data Officer) organization, data is our heart. We ensure the bank can use data for decisions, reporting, analytics, modelling and much more because the data is of good quality, is managed well throughout the bank and that uniform policies and processes around our data apply. CDO is a global organization, with people working in Amsterdam, Manilla, Bucharest and many more ING countries.

We are with around 200 data management professionals working on our ambition: making sure data is being treated in a pragmatic, compliant and ethical way! This vacancy is in the Center of Excellence Data Governance and will have a specific orientation towards the CDO Office in our Global Technology function.

As Data Quality Officer within the Global Technology Function, you will be responsible for supporting two domains. You will do this by driving data management topics in general e.g., installing data quality rules and process including necessary roles and responsibilities, ensure the domains’ data management compliancy, and creating value for the Technology Function by increasing the domains’ data consumption.

Furthermore, you will be the experts for the CDO Office team on data quality. In this role we envisage that you will support your colleagues on data quality topics; train and educate and have a hands-on approach if required.

You deliver continuous data quality, integrity & traceability strategic support to our Chief Data Officer Global technology and provide your expertise to guide the technology function through the effective application of data governance.

As data quality officer, it is your responsibility to propagate ING’s data management strategy across ING global technology. You will further:

  • expand, improve, and actively promote the data management strategy and particularly the data quality aspects related to technology.
  • be responsible for establishing controls around our various policies (on data quality, lineage, integrity and many more) and drive improvements of these controls;
  • ensure that ING complies with data quality related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities defined at ING Group level and by our regulators (e.g. GDPR, BCBS239, ESG);
  • translate policies and guidelines into actionable data governance activities (e.g. data exchanges, data traceability and data quality);
