Key purpose of the role
Data Science Specialist; Data Team; Network Application Services

We’re looking for hardworking and intelligent individual to fill the Data Scientist in the Data Team in Network Application Services (NAS), using data science techniques to measure service performance and influence change for our Networks, ensuring our customers have the best experience. You’ll be in a team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists, working closely with other teams across all of our organisation to successfully derive insights and benefits for the business, supporting Broadband, TV, Mobile, Digital Voice.
What you’ll be doing
- Focus on the delivery of business value to our customers through successful data products and services aligned with our BT Group strategic vision. You’ll be creating the innovative insights that help us deliver on the team’s vision.
- Work alongside the squads in the Data Team; deriving innovative and new insights from our extensive data sources that support exceptional customer experience and service improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders to align data science priorities with organisational goals, ensuring effective communication, articulating the benefit of your insights and recommendations.
- Work to the agile principles of openness, transparency, and communication to continuously develop and nurture strong working partnerships with business stakeholders and encourage the squads within the team to become closer to our customers and stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and tools in the data science and AI domain, ensuring the team is leveraging the latest techniques to drive innovation.
Skills expected for the role
- Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, statistical analysis, and other data science techniques to solve business problems.
- Experience bringing live services using machine learning and python to production.
- Experiment daily to quantify the performance of existing algorithms and new opportunities in our Networks domain.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in order to work with stakeholders to understand the business problems and come up with innovate solutions.
- Knowledge of using machine learning frameworks and predictive modelling
- Proficient in data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and familiarity with cloud platforms; such as AWS and Google Cloud.
- Empathy of our customers, we put the customer at the heart of everything we do. We create products and services that enable our internal and external customers to get the most from our data in a way that works for them.
