About the Role 

This position is part of the Advanced Analytics team within APM team in Corporate Solutions. You will play an important role of driving high quality analytics & insights by combining your technical and analytical skills with the insurance knowledge of the broader organization.

 

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with stakeholders to understand the exact problem statement/business context,  and helping convert these to well defined requirements.
  • Building of Analytics solutions for the assigned line of business.  
  • You will work with Senior team members and stakeholders in Underwriting, Claims and Data Engineering teams to help in building Data Science Solutions
  • You will have a direct impact in helping steer the Data science solutions and ultimately the overall Business Unit’s performance

 

About the Team 

The APM Advanced Analytics team is comprised of a mix of highly experienced members already entrenched in advanced analytics and highly motivated newer members who thrives in a dynamic and fast learning environment.  This team reports into the Chief Underwriting Officer and is part of the Actuarial Portfolio Management Unit.

Roles & Responsibilties

 

Data Understanding & Driving Insights

  • Work with senior team members to help build a clear and independent view on the internal/external data along with effective visualizations and recommendations.
  • Understand business requirement & translate details into impactful technical requirements.

 

Advanced Data Analytics

  • Help and work with senior team members to build Data science solutions, involving:

developing, validating, deploying and maintaining ML Models

  • Build interactive dashboards on Palantir Foundry
  • Present your findings & convince business using explainability & other techniques.
  • Willing to learn and use Gen AI techniques to develop insights and trends that can be used for risk selection or differentiation; and costing improvements. 

 

Professional experience

 

  • 5+ years of experience in Analytics and/or Data Science.
  • You have highly developed problem solving and analytical skills. You can translate the data insights into effective visualizations for high impact communication.
  • You have applied these skills using real business data to develop insights and practical solutions.
  • You have experience leading project delivery and managing junior colleagues.
  • Previous experience in credit quantitative models, credit portfolio management, risk management in banking or insurance is a plus. 

 

Technical skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with PySpark and Python, particularly in building and optimizing large-scale data transformation pipelines
  • 3+ years of SQL experience, comfortable writing and optimizing complex queries. 
  • Solid experience developing NLP solutions, with exposure to GenAI and unsupervised learning methodologies.
  • Extensive experience in data visualization and developing interactive dashboards for business stakeholders, with a focus on strategic insights.

Educational level

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Data Science, IT , Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent statistical fields
