What you’ll do
You will play a crucial role in building our ability to personalise Sainsbury’s, Argos, Tu and Habitat marketing communications and driving desired customer behaviour through optimised offers and discounts.
Your responsibilities will include delivering, analysing, evolving, and innovating in order to efficiently and accurately deliver code that generates loyalty and commercial value. You will leverage our vast dataset, collaborating with our Single Customer View data team to ensure the development of documented, repeatable, scalable, and shareable code and outputs. With your strong skills in Python, SQL and data analysis, you will apply concepts such as predictive modelling and clustering to derive actionable insights. Your business acumen and commercial awareness will allow you to articulate desired outcomes and present analytics work concisely, while your ability to work both independently and collaboratively, combined with your drive for results will enable you to contribute effectively to the team. Ensuring the integrity of your work, you will pay careful attention to detail, maintain scepticism, and adhere to data quality, samples, bias and ethics standards. Staying at the forefront of the industry, you will stay aware of technology trends and directions in Analytics.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of 1-2 working days in our Holborn office per week, the remainder being remote home working.
Who you are
You are motivated by the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team, collaborating to push boundaries and create innovative systems and technologies. With your expertise in data science, programming languages such as Python, and SQL skills, you are experienced in analysing data in a corporate environment and utilising tools like Jupyter notebooks and Git for version control. Your strong analytical skills and knowledge of predictive modelling and clustering enables you to deliver models and insights that drive customer loyalty and commercial value. Your proactive approach to continuous learning, business acumen and ability to communicate effectively make you a valuable asset in driving the success of our marketing analytics initiatives.
Core skills / experience we are looking for:
- A quantitative background likely to consist of a university degree (e.g. statistics, mathematics, machine learning, engineering) or equivalent experience
- Programming ability across Python or R and strong ability to use SQL, with a proven experience of analysing data in a corporate environment
- Experience of using machine learning techniques e.g. regressions, classifications, clustering, graphing networks
- Experience of generating data science solutions by working with marketing and customer data to drive business activity
- Analytical skills and statistical understanding
- Excellent communicator with the ability to explain complex analytical techniques to nontechnical audiences in a clear and positive manner and the implications of the results.
- Ability to work independently on an end-to-end project, as well as ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Experience in MLOps, Data Science Engineering, or model deployment using tools such as Github. AWS is desirable.
