Data Scientist

At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and we are looking for a professional Data Scientist to join our UniQue Ispra team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our customers in the public sector and you will be responsible for developing new business by identifying profitable opportunities, maintaining your client portfolio by building strong, long-lasting relationships, and monitoring the progress of the projects, with the aim to provide excellent client service and added value services.

What will you be bringing to the team?

• Develop a tool/application to be integrated in the EDGAR/EOLO system for the calculation of uncertainty that is flexible to adapt to user’s queries (e.g. sector, substance, regional aggregations, etc.), focusing on greenhouse gases
• Development of an EDGAR/EOLO system application for downloading and integrating into the EDGAR database F-gas emission estimations from the Common reporting format (CRF) tables and GHG Locator Tool and perform the quality check and comparison with the previous EDGAR emissions inventory.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed in this position?

• Master + 11 years of experience
• Deep knowledge in provision of technical evaluations
• Experience in data analysis and modeling, in particular related to emissions estimation
• Experience in quality assessment provision
• Capacity to write clear and structured technical documentation
• Knowledge and experience of relational database systems
• In depth experience with high level programming languages (Python, R, Matlab), languages for managing databases (SQL) and geographical information tools (ArcGIS),
• Knowledge of statistical inference methods and high-end analytics (data mining and classification methods).
• Good working knowledge in English

Desirable:

• Knowledge of emission or air pollution or emissions inventories or more in general with environmental issues
• Experience on the EDGAR database
• Knowledge of IPCC standards and guidelines for emission of green-house gases and their uncertainties
