Job Description

What a Data Scientist (Analyst) does at Visa: 

Join us as Data Scientist and play an instrumental role in steering the implementation and development of data driven solutions within the Global Data Solutions team.  

The position will be based in Visa’s Singapore office. The successful candidate will have the opportunities to work on variety of use-cases within Visa Merchant Sales & Solution team. The Data Scientist will primarily support key stakeholders of a program designed to drive more opportunities from seller side, involving Acquirers and Payment Facilitators. An ideal candidate is expected to have a highly analytical bent of mind and requisite skills to independently analyze and interpret data insights.  

  • Collaborate with merchant data teams (across different locations) to gain deep understanding of Visa’s existing merchant data sets, and utilize them to build/enhance key reports and dashboards  

  • Lead ETL and data analysis of large transactional data sets: using standard tools such as Hadoop Ecosystem, Python/Pyspark, SQL, Java etc. 

  • Create impactful and dynamic visual interfaces/ dashboards for the next generation of our data driven solutions 

  • Contribute to new data and analytic capabilities, bring in new techniques, and/or innovation ideas 

  • Work closely with the internal stakeholders to understand their challenges and craft solutions that help them to solve their problems 

Projects you will be a part of: 

The nature of projects in this role will focus on driving value from Visa’ unique data assets and collaborating with Visa Merchant & Sales Solution team to solve their most strategic business problems related to contactless, wallet, cobrand portfolios. 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Post Graduate (masters or Ph.D) in STEM field with at least 1-3 years being a data scientist or analytics consultant
  • Hands-on experience in developing machine learning models, scaling data solutions and delivering end-to-end data science projects
  • Familiar with typical machine learning models such as Linear & Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Markov Chains, Support Vector Machines, Neural Networks, Clustering, etc
  • Proficient in big data aggregation using Hive, Spark, SQL, R/Python, and familiar with typical deep learning toolkits and packages
  • Experience with visualization and reporting tools, such as advanced user of Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, open-source tool, or similar
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Strong internal team and external client stakeholder management with a collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization
  • Exhibit intellectual curiosity and strive to continually learn, self-motivated and results oriented individual with the ability to handle numerous projects
  • Detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in reports & data analysis

What will also help:

  • Banking / consulting/payment industry or broader merchant experiences are not desired but preferred
  • Knowledge of tokens, tokenization technology, contactless, xPays or having worked with similarly complex payment technology.
