A Little About Us
The Consumer Analytics team serves as the primary source for experimentation and insights. The team’s main objectives are to test hypotheses across all digital platforms, measure results and provide go-forward business recommendations for stakeholders. Additionally, the team serves as the key resource for cross-functional teams (Marketing, Finance, Business Development and more) on all the above subject areas. As part of the team, this Data Scientist will have multiple responsibilities including defining test plans, creation of new test hypotheses, improving dashboards and reports that provide analysis and commentary, deep dive into consumer insights and competitive intelligence to help teams drive product innovation and iteration, measuring A/B test results and providing business recommendations.

Your Day

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve business challenges through data analysis across AOL properties.

Work with product teams to understand business problems, frame the problem into questions that can be answered through data analysis, formulate analysis plans, analyze data and derive actionable insights.

Communicate your findings effectively and efficiently with product partners and executives to drive product and business decisions.

Work with product and engineering teams to provide requirements and guidance on tracking and instrumentation standards, data validation, A/B test design, set up and measurement.

Lead time-sensitive strategic research projects involving methodology development, cohort analysis, strategic recommendations and presentation of findings to Senior Management

Extract data, use statistical tools and techniques to turn data into insights and use data visualization tools to tell-the-story.

Create dashboards and reports to provide transparency to data and metrics. Drive reporting optimization through continued improvement in production & visualization
Requirements
-
BS/MS in quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science)

3+ years of experience generating actionable insights that aid data-driven decisions in building great products with great user experience.

Proven record of delivering actionable insights through exploratory data analysis & predictive analytics using statistical and machine learning techniques and concepts.

Excellent problem solving, analytical, abstract thinking skills and business acumen to understand business problems and convert it into data problems, collect and organize data, analyze and formulate insights.

Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate the findings to product teams and executives and influence product and business decisions. Ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-experts.

Proficient in data analysis tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python or R.

Proficient in data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau.

Good working knowledge of cloud based services like Amazon Web Services (AWS) including ETL and Data Integration.

Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop (Pig/Hive), Spark, or other related technologies.

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 – $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
