We are looking for a highly motivated data scientist to provide analytics and decision support to join the Data Science and Reporting team supporting the Expedia Travel and Partner Services Platform (TPSP).  You will get an exposure of working with Product, Business Operations and Engineering teams. In this role, you will be responsible for performing deep-dive analysis for insight generation and recommendations, driving critical metric measurement, crafting business cases, setting-up experimentation and presenting findings in front of the stakeholders across the Expedia Group major brands (Brand Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Wotif, CheapTickets, Hotel.com, Vrbo, EPS) and collaborating with the business to meet key milestones. A successful candidate will be a quantitatively driven self-starter who is able to work well with all levels of the cross-functional teams and break down obstacles to ensure the success of the business.

Who You Are: 

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business problems into unambiguous analytic problem statements and design analytical frameworks to address them.
  • Develop a strong understanding of business, product and operational requirements and build solutions.
  • Solid experience in data visualization using Tableau or similar tools along with Analytics expertise.
  • Highly proficient in SQL and having another programming language experience (e.g. R, Python) would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of data science, statistical/predictive modeling, operation research and optimization techniques
  • Conduct hypotheses testing and design and perform impact analysis for complex A/B tests.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize among conflicting demands in a fluid environment.

What You Will Do: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or in a related technical field
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in product/business analytics and data science
  • Outstanding analytics ability, expert in SQL and understanding of data relationships
  • Experience in extracting, sampling and visualization of large data sets using R, Python
  • Experience in statistical analysis, experimentation (A/B testing, quasi-experiment methods), supervised and unsupervised learning models
  • Take initiative to identify current and potential problems and determine the best solution. Involve and/or manage the people and resources if required 
  • Ability to connect the big picture to minute details, toggling between them to set and operationalize strategy 
  • Can clearly, concisely and optimally communicate across all levels within the organization, deliver presentations, share information and ideas with others, listen carefully and consider what others have to say, including differing viewpoints 
  • Ability to own projects end-to-end: building out timelines, key milestones, provide regular updates to stakeholders and delivery against agreed upon spec Proactively and directly engages with partners to assess existing and upcoming project needs and maintains regular communication on progress
