Data Scientist II (Analytics)
As a Data Scientist on Expedia’s Search Engine Marketing team you will support the growth marketing organization to execute on initiatives, by leveraging data and implementing business processes. It’s essential for you to be comfortable working with complex data and be able to effectively communicate actionable findings. You must thrive in environments where complex data is the norm, navigate through ambiguity, and work in an environment where you partner with multiple stakeholders to achieve success. Your search engine marketing knowledge, business acumen, and analytical skills will be put to the test as we bring on new initiatives and optimize existing marketing initiatives.
Key responsibilities include owning data and reporting pipelines, audience pertinent initiatives, actions, analysis, and charting out the vision of the path forward. Working with partners, marketing managers and internal teams, Data Scientists ensure data integrity and develop actionable reporting and recommendations. You will manage a multi-million dollar portfolio to help Expedia Group attain its audience pertinent initiatives through growth marketing channels. This role will rotate across various channels and perspectives of our business—providing you with broad exposure to Expedia Group and the fundamentals of analytics, product, and marketing.
What you’ll do:
- Own day-to-day activities for mission-critical marketing systems and be responsive to ever-changing business needs
- Work with channel marketing managers and product managers to understand changes in their business and to streamline decision-making to drive effective execution of audience initiatives
- Drive smarter data-driven actionable insights on how to optimize business and be comfortable doing tear-downs to rethink business executions
- Build models to effectively value discretely how much a user is worth and be the customer champion for SEM; with a specific on bidding and evolving data structures
- Manage internal relationships with key technical support teams to execute on business
- Develop and maintain documentation of findings, ensuring transparency and accessibility for stakeholders.
- Communicate cross functionally (internally and externally) to design, implement, and enhance marketing products and campaigns
- Present findings and insights to leadership teams, effectively communicating complex analyses in a clear and concise manner.
Who you are:

Bachelor’s degree; or Equivalent related professional experience

At least 3 years of work experience

Search Engine experience in managing campaigns across Google, Bing, Yahoo, Naver, etc.

Strong desire to understand online, offline, and mobile marketing from campaign execution to supporting infrastructure

Demonstrated experience in AB testing, modeling, analysis and research and coding

Must be able to code in SQL, advanced excel know-how, and familiarity with Python

Results-driven, possesses operational mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Collaborates cross functionally with strong communication skills to embrace and champion change

E-commerce, Internet, travel, or consumer/retail experience a plus

A professional “get it done” attitude and work ethic
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
