Location: Mountain View, CA
Samsung TV Plus is an industry-leading FAST (free ad-supported TV) and VOD (video-on-demand) service reaching 24 countries and millions of devices globally across TV and mobile. One of the first FAST platforms, Samsung TV Plus now offers more than 300 channels in the U.S. and nearly 2,400 channels globally, along with thousands of shows and movies on-demand.
The Samsung TV Plus Data Analytics & Insights Team (DAI) is looking for a Data Analyst to empower the various teams it supports with the analytics and insights needed to make data-driven decisions. The TV Plus Data and Analytics (DAI) team supports various functions across the wider TV Plus team, such as: Product, UX Design, Business Development, Content, Marketing, and Monetization.
This role will leverage Samsung’s data on its various platforms to understand service performance, and build data products to drive key decision-making in content merchandising and acquisition strategy, content partner business models, and ad performance optimization. This role will also have opportunities to provide analytics in other functions.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, analytical, and solutions-focused. He/she should also have a strong ability to navigate ambiguous and quickly-changing requirements to distill actionable insights for stakeholders. The DAI team is looking for a candidate who has a demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations and foster collaboration with a variety of functions with varying perspectives and needs. The position also requires excellent communication and presentation skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
- Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms.
- Clean and preprocess data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Design and build data analytics solutions to drive monetization, user engagement, and support strategic decision making. Generate descriptive visualizations and presentations to communicate insights.
- Provide insights to help business and product leaders understand monetization performance and user behaviors.
- Become an expert on the relevant data available to the group and strive to increase our access to further relevant sources of data inside and outside of Samsung
- Be a subject matter expert on data standardization models for areas dependent on disparate sources.
- Empower the various teams within the wider TV Plus team with data driven insights. This can include requested ad hoc analyses, analytics dashboarding, shareouts to the wider team
- Oversee projects to provide guidance for metric development and exploration of unfamiliar datasets to expand our insight capabilities
- Communicate technical requirements to stakeholders of varying technical ability
- Coordinate with different functions across the organization, such as business development, marketing, or product, as necessary to drive team goals
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or above
- 5+ years of professional experience in data analytics, engineering, or related quantitative role; background in media services, content, or advertising industries preferred.
- Ability to build an analytical framework and transform data into quantitative insights.
- Professional experience with SQL and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) that surface useful insights, opportunities, and trends for leaders to action on and exploit
- Professional experience in using Python/R for data analysis of structured and unstructured data. Familiar with statistical modeling or machine learning is a plus
- Proficient with querying and manipulating big datasets on AWS Athena, BigQuery, and MySQL. Hands on experience with ETL automation.
- Experience with working with cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing and business development teams
- Effective communication skills and collaborative style of working
- Self-motivated and driven to constantly improve processes and output, with a strong sense of curiosity and nose for tackling ambiguous challenges
- Experience initiating and leading projects to completion at a global organization
