In line with our Global strategy and purpose, we have an internal opportunity for a Data Team Lead to join the Commercial Data Team working on our UK Transformation Programme, helping to shape and implement the target operating model for our Commercial business.
 
Our ambition is to transform the End-to-End experience and journey for our policyholders, intermediaries, internal users and other parties, through a combination of modernising core systems, data-led digital asset development and integrations (internal and external).
 

About Your Opportunity

The Data Lead will act as a voice of business and customer with an Agile Data team, supporting change throughout the full development process from concept to delivery.

You will provide the team with the strategy and direction and will evaluate all opportunities and prioritise what gets built through a well-managed, prioritised product backlog.
You  will collaborate closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Pricing, Underwriting, Architecture, Information Security, Data Protection, IT & Change, to gather key input and feedback. You will regularly discuss the progress and plans with stakeholders. You will support and engage your dedicated team on the daily basis throughout the development lifecycle and be comfortable getting close to the detail e.g. have a detailed understanding of the data sets that your team are working on and challenges with ensuring suitable data quality within them.

 

About You

 

Skills & Experience

 

To be successful for the role you will have strong technical understanding of General Insurance end to end processes and products. Given your team will be Data focused it is important that you have exposure to databases / data warehousing, use of Structured Query Language (SQL) i.e. be comfortable running queries on databases, the Extract Transform Load (ETL) pattern and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You will also ideally have experience of working with external parties as part of your product roadmap delivery.
You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex or technical information in a simple way and when required the ability to influence, negotiatie. 
You will have leadership skills with the willingness to lead, motivate and inspire others to achieve their full potential and to challenge a status quo when required.
You will be a self-motivated and driven to deliver and not afraid to take a risk-based approach to decision making.
