Job Description

Primary responsibilities

• Possess a strong understanding of data interpretation, and the ability to effectively represent data using appropriate visualization techniques to deliver actionable insights.
• Design, develop, and maintain relational databases for data storage and data mining. Perform data warehouse design and testing, including data design, database architecture, metadata, and repository creation to support dashboard / report development.
• Design and implement processes for data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) from various sources into a centralized data warehouse/data lake to organize data for efficient data retrieval, and improved data quality.
• Collect, analyze, transform, and interpret raw data from various sources. Design and develop BI solutions, data models and KPI measures.
• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Apache superstore using visual elements like charts, graphs, maps, visual design principles.
• Comply with quality assurance standards and best practices, proficient in various testing methodologies and tools, as well as debugging. Lead bug triage by identifying and documenting bugs in the system, and prioritizing them based on their impact on the business.
• Optimize dashboard performance by enhancing data processing speeds, improving query performance, and refining data models to ensure efficient, reliable, and timely data retrieval and analysis for business intelligence applications.
• Automate BI processes wherever possible (i.e. data extraction, transformation, visualizations, testing, deployment). Conduct CI/CD activities by automating the integration, testing, and deployment of BI solutions, enabling faster, more reliable, and frequent updates to data pipelines, reports, and dashboards.
• Ensure the security of data and BI solutions, implement data security measures, complying with all relevant regulations and best practices.
• Manage access controls, set up and maintain the data visualization platform, and ensuring the system’s overall health and performance using usage reports.
• Document all processes, methodologies, and instructions related to the BI solutions. Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date and is accessible to relevant stakeholders.
• Responsible for deploying the dashboard as per user requirement and VISA standards

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a BI Engineer / data engineering or similar role for 2+ years
• Familiarity with shared services, consulting, financial services is a strong plus.
• Certification in domain of Data warehouse / ETL or DevOps or Visualization is a plus.

Technical skills

Must have

• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, looker, D3.js
• Expertise in LOD( Level of Detail), DAX(Data Analysis Expressions), Power Query, M language, Tableau Prep to create measures and transform data.
• Experience in CICD/ Data Architectures/ Pipelines/ version control /Code Management.
• Experience with SQL for extracting, aggregating and processing big data using Hadoop, EMR & NoSQL Databases
• Familiarity with ETL tools such as sagemaker, Informatica PowerCenter, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Talend, IBM InfoSphere DataStage, and Oracle Data Integrator.
• Understanding of pipeline tools such as Apache Airflow , Apache Kafka, AWS Glue, Google Cloud Dataflow and Apache Beam
• Experience in interacting with data warehouses and data lakes, utilizing tools like pyspark, Apache Hadoop, Amazon Redshift, snowflake, and Amazon S3 to ingest and extract data for insights

Good to have

• Ability to create prototype using UI/UX tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Proto.io, Marvel
• Knowledge of quality assurance tools like JUnit, Selenium, TestComplete, QuerySurge
• Working in agile/scrum methodologies using Azure DevOps

Not technical skills

• Experienced in working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure understanding and usability of data visualizations.
• Continually stays updated with the latest trends and advancements in data visualization techniques and tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing relationships with stakeholders, strong presentation skills to effectively communicate data insights and visualizations to diverse audiences, with the ability to tailor the presentation to the audience’s level of expertise.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively, keep track of tasks and deadlines, maintain a tidy and systematic work environment, and coordinate resources to achieve goals in a timely and efficient manner.
• Take full responsibility for the BI projects, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of insights, and addressing any issues or inaccuracies in the data promptly and effectively.
• Ensure flawless execution by continuously experimenting with new methodologies, learning from past mistakes to improve processes, and focusing on delivering seamless, efficient, and accurate data analysis and reporting.
