Job Description

Join us at Cleric

Cleric is an AI-powered agent designed to manage and resolve issues in production environments autonomously. It uses an LLM-based reasoning engine to react to, interpret, and implement solutions to production issues, even those it’s encountering for the first time.

Technology companies are grappling with the complexity of production environments, distracting engineers from their core task of software development. Engineers are drowning in a sea of observability data, but still require manual intervention to solve problems.

We are building a future where engineers can concentrate on software development while Cleric takes care of the production environment. Our mission is to develop autonomous software that can manage, repair, and optimize itself—the holy grail.

Now is a divine time to join. We’re a small group of veterans in AI, software, and infrastructure, backed by a leading AI venture capital firm and Silicon Valley angels.

About the Role

We’re building an AI-powered engineer. Future engineering teams will be hybrid human and machine. This requires rethinking design, user interfaces, and interactions from first principles.

We are looking for a deeply experienced and talented UX engineer who is genuinely excited about this challenge and helping to shape and define what the future of human-machine interaction looks like.

In this position, you’ll own multiple product areas and be responsible for helping shape product directions, prototype new concepts, and own not just product design but also the development of the final software product. You’ll be comfortable balancing insights from users, data, and product vision to craft coherent and elegant solutions that bring the most value to users.

You’ll collaborate closely with the backend engineering and research teams to develop an AI product that our users love. There are unlimited unique and exciting challenges at Cleric that require someone with natural product & UX sense, technical aptitude, great taste and craft.

Responsibilities

As a UX Engineer at Cleric, you will not only lead product design but also be deeply involved in the engineering aspect of our product:

  • Leading the design and development process for efficient, iterative product creation, including the creation of intuitive, engaging user interfaces for our AI product.

  • Conducting user research and integrating findings into product design to optimize user experience.

  • Establish and maintain a durable and adaptable design system for consistency across all product surfaces.

  • Collaborating closely with software engineering and research teams to transition from product vision to implementation.

  • Build innovative, engaging prototypes using the latest in front-end technologies.

  • Develop production grade front-end interfaces as web, CLI, or conversational layers.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A proven track record as both a developer and designer, with a strong portfolio in both UI/UX design and front-end development.

  • Proficiency in Next.js, TypeScript, and CSS, with a preference for experience in Tailwind.

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or equivalent practical experience.

  • You have experience in designing developer tools aimed at engineers and have prior experience in designing for AI and machine learning products.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • A passion for AI and technology, with a desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

Beyond these skills, what we value the most is your ability to remain curious and open to learning new skills. As an early-stage startup joiner, you’ll certainly end up wearing many hats.

How We Work

  • Small teams, big impact: We believe that small teams can deliver great products.

  • Culture matters: We value a positive and inclusive work environment.

  • In-person collaboration: We believe in working closely to deliver the best results.

  • AI-first approach: We don’t simply build AI products; we augment ourselves with it.
