The Opportunity at Komodo HealthThe Data Foundations & Data Products organization builds and operates the core data infrastructure that powers Komodo’s Healthcare Map and analytical products. The team owns the ingestion, transformation, modeling, and enrichment of healthcare data at scale, enabling product teams, data scientists, and customers to leverage clean, accurate, and timely insights. We partner closely with Engineering, Product, and cross-functional leaders to deliver reliable data platforms that drive Komodo’s mission.

This role exists to lead the engineering teams responsible for architecting and scaling Komodo’s foundational data platform and data product pipelines. As Director of Engineering, you will set the technical vision, drive execution across multiple teams, and ensure we deliver best-in-class, scalable data products that power our platform and customer-facing offerings. You will guide a high performing team, elevate engineering excellence, and collaborate with product, engineering, and other teams to ensure our data generates meaningful business value.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Komodo Health, you will have accomplished…Defined and implemented a multi-quarter technical vision and roadmap for Komodo’s data platform, improving scalability, performance, and data quality across Healthcare Map and data products. Scaled and structured high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, mentoring, and developing managers and senior engineers.

Delivered major architectural upgrades to the data platform (pipelines, orchestration, modeling standards, developer workflow, and observability). Established data engineering best practices across the organization, influencing coding standards, testing frameworks, CI/CD, and operational excellence. Improved data platform reliability and cost efficiency, demonstrating measurable improvements in timeliness, data quality, and SLA adherence.

These are the essential job duties you will be responsible for …Leadership & StrategyLead an engineering team building Data Products and pipelines that power Komodo’s platform. Own technical strategy, architecture, and prioritization in partnership with Product, Data Science, and Platform Engineering leaders. Drive execution of high-impact initiatives spanning ingestion, transformation, modeling, enrichment, and data platform services.

Develop engineering managers and senior engineers; model high standards for engineering excellence, reliability, and velocity. Build a culture of ownership, inclusion, high performance, and continuous learning. Technical Oversight Architect and guide the design of reliable, scalable, cost-efficient data pipelines and distributed processing systems using Airflow, Python, SQL, Snowflake, and Spark.

Oversee core data modeling and schema design standards across relational, MPP, and NoSQL systems. Ensure data quality, observability, and governance frameworks are implemented and adopted at scale. Review technical designs, influence cross-team architectural decisions, and remove obstacles for teams.
