Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a management, technical, or engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 15 years of experience in corporate strategy/development, product strategy, strategy consulting, investing, market and user research, or product management, supporting consumer technology organizations to develop an organizational road map
  • Experience developing investment theses, including via M&A or net-new zero-to-one product bets that are in the process of being incubated or launched
  • Experience leading a team to deliver insights and facilitate decision making

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or graduate degree in a management, technical or engineering field
  • Outstanding executive synthesis and communication skills; ability to distill diverse data points into actionable insights and recommendations, and to quickly separate signal from noise
  • Excellent business acumen and product intuition, with the ability to form and refine hypotheses in a product context and judgment
  • Analytical and quantitative, with the ability to constructively engage with analysts, Data Science and Engineering, and UXR partners to frame and interpret sophisticated analyses
  • Distinctive problem solving and strategy skills, including expansive opportunity identification, data-driven segmentation, and framing of complex/ambiguous problems

About the job

As a Director, you will lead a team in developing an integrated, Knowledge and Information (K&I)-wide perspective on potential areas of investment and opportunities to drive growth. You will work across the full breadth of products within K&I (i.e., Search, Ads, Assistant, Gemini, Commerce, Geo) and with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders. You will utilize experience leading effective growth strategy and planning efforts, developing executive level insights on market or investment opportunities, and translating those insights into actionable recommendations. You will collaborate across a wide range of partner teams including finance, data science, corp development, and more, often in ambiguous circumstances.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $246,000-$354,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define key trends and segments for exploration/investment, and distill these into actionable product and organizational implications.
  • Develop and maintain a data-driven growth strategy grounded in growth analytics, external benchmarking, and scenario modeling.
  • Identify and prioritize new growth opportunities (including inorganic growth opportunities and net-new bets such as applying Generative AI to address new user needs).
  • Develop investment theses to inform long-term strategic planning.
  • Synthesize key industry and competitive developments and identify implications for Knowledge and Information leadership.
