Education
- Undergraduate degree, Computer Science, MIS or equivalent.
- Graduate degree in Analytics, Information technology or equivalent preferred.
Experience / Qualifications
- 5 years prior management experience in a hospital/healthcare setting desired.
- Minimum of three years healthcare experience working in information technology department, with a significant focus on analytics, reporting and/or automation.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.
- Ability to interact with executives and hospital/clinic operations required.
- Functional understanding of automation tools including scripting and robotic processing required.
- Fundamental understanding of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, ambient voice technologies is required.
- The ability to translate technologies into consistent clinical and business decision-making and workflows that can provide efficiencies for hospital operations is required.
- An ability to speak to and collaborate work with applications, infrastructure and cyber security functions is fundamental to this role.
- The analytics and automation leader must keep abreast of emerging technologies, measuring industry hype from operational utility.
- Encourages enthusiastic embracement of team members of innovative yet practical tools for consistent clinical and business reporting.
- The ability to maximize key core application reporting is fundamental to this role to include but not limited to the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) products.
- Leader must encourage and adhere to technology and reporting standards to assure accurate and consistent reports to the business at large.
- Utilization of standard reporting distribution tools is required.
- Must be able to articulate the business proposition with all stakeholders, both internal and external to IT and JMC at large.
- Functional understanding of scripting technologies python, javascript, etc. is required.
- Identifies inefficiencies in reporting development and distribution while maximizing the opportunity of standard report libraries and customer self-service functions.
- Foundational understanding of process improvement is preferred.
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Analytics and Automation is responsible for the analytics portfolio and IT automation capabilities at JMC. Given the interdependence of these disciplines, must be able to weigh the necessary investment against the inherent value and business proposition. The leader provides leadership and operational guidance to the business at large in partnership with IT leadership counterparts. It is crucial that a collaborative relationship is maintained with the IT leadership in terms of a shared accountability of application portfolios, maximizing JMC’s investment in the application portfolio. At the same time, through governance, will work with clinical and business counterparts to present practical efficiency through automation and reporting. As a trusted advisor provides recommendations to the CIO and other members of senior leadership. Is a partner in developing the on-going analytics and automation capabilities for the organization.
- Takes part in process improvement opportunities where applicable (ex: support process and communications).
- Leads or co-leads governance committees as appropriate.
- Assist team with vendor management, and participates in root cause analysis when required.
- Establishes and monitors applicable service delivery metrics and benchmarks.
- Reviews industry best practices.
- Assist in creation of support and maintenance standards, procedures and documentation.
- Must have the ability to handle stressful situations in a fast paced environment.
- Builds and maintains relationships with the IT team and functional leaders at JMC.
- Participates in change control.
- Is a model IT leader both internal and external to IT division.
- Encourages and empowers decision-making skills of staff members and providing insight and leadership in complex situations.
- Ensures that information disseminated to staff is monitored for effectiveness and changed as needed.
- Understands and enforces hospital and personnel policies and procedures.
- Serve on hospital and Patient Care Services committees, teams, and work groups as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
