Job Description

Director of Engineering, Enterprise Platform About SailPoint SailPoint is the leader in Identity Security. Our solutions secure and enable thousands of companies worldwide, providing unmatched visibility and control over digital identities—human, machine, and AI. Our next-generation Atlas Platform is redefining identity governance with advanced AI-powered capabilities.

We are a Gartner leader, high-growth Identity Security SaaS organization: the only company with a multi-tenant, micro services-built SaaS IGA solution and AI and machine learning Identity Security platform. Organizations don’t know what data they have; let alone where it resides and crucially, and we help them answer those key questions. Identity security is the central control point for risk management for the enterprise: the easiest way to implement your digital transformation faster and reduce risk. We are proud of our team and the culture we have built which has led to our employees voting us “best places to work” – 15 years in a row.

About the Role As the Director of Engineering, Enterprise Platform, reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, Enterprise Platform, you will lead a team of approximately 40 engineers responsible for the core services and innovation driving the Atlas Platform. You will define and execute the technical strategy and architecture for scalable, externally facing platform components, directly impacting SailPoint’s ability to deliver real-time access intelligence, policy automation, and extensibility at scale.

Responsibilities: Lead and mentor engineering teams building core platform components: identity services, knowledge graphs, workflow engines, and data pipelines. Define and evolve platform architecture for scalability, reliability, and extensibility. Champion API-first and developer platform strategies, empowering our developer and partner ecosystem.

Drive execution across microservices, GraphQL APIs, event-driven pipelines, and AI/ML-integrated services. Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and Field teams to deliver impactful solutions. Manage stakeholder relationships, aligning technical vision with business goals.

Requirements: 10+ years in software engineering leadership roles, including managing backend/platform teams. 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience.

Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, SaaS platforms, and large-scale data systems. Experience with microservices, event-driven systems (Kafka/SQS), and containerized CI/CD (Docker, Kubernetes). Technical fluency at the architectural level; able to guide and challenge engineering decisions.

Proven ability to scale distributed systems for reliability and performance. Strong background in API design, developer experience, and integration tooling. Experience with graph databases (e.

g. , Neo4j), AI/ML pipelines, and AWS cloud environments. BS in Computer Science or related field preferred.

Roadmap and Timeline to Success Within the first 30 days: Onboard into the Atlas platform and SailPoint’s technology stack. Build relationships with team leads; assess strengths and development areas. Deeply understand business problems and propose architectural solutions.
