Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering
  • 10 years of experience with database processing engines and systems
  • 10 years of experience in analytics and business intelligence, including generative AI, advanced visualization techniques, and semantic data modeling

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a thought leader in data analytics and AI/ML, and experience with technology innovation
  • Expertise in AI/ML quality evaluation and improvement, including balancing tuning techniques with cost/benefit tradeoffs
  • Ability to promote product excellence and collaboration, driving a portfolio of concurrent engineering projects and running the gamut from short-term critical feature launches to long-term research initiatives
  • Ability to bring in a strong point of view on technology leadership, research, and industry trends
  • Appreciation on a deep level for how to grow and support those around them

As a Distinguished Engineer in Business Intelligence (BI) and Generative AI, you will be a technical leader responsible for shaping the future of our data analytics capabilities. Your expertise in generative AI, advanced visualization, semantic data modeling, and big data analytics will drive innovative solutions that unlock actionable insights and transform our business. You will advocate for the development and integration of AI-assisted BI tools to empower users with intelligent, automated, and data-driven decision-making. You will define the long-term technical strategy, mentor a team of experts, and collaborate with leadership to ensure alignment between technology and business goals.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the technology and innovation strategy for Business Intelligence with a focus on generative AI, advanced visualization techniques, and semantic data modeling.
  • Assess long-term technological investments in Business Intelligence and generative AI, and calibrate opportunities against each other and available bandwidth.
  • Become an innovation leader in Business Intelligence and leverage Google’s strength in AI/ML.
  • Identify high-value areas for investment for technology innovation in our existing product portfolio and build execution paths to bring them to market.
