Space Systems Development: This position is part of the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.
As a member of the Formulation team, you will be responsible for the development of software products which support various teams across SSD as well as customer-facing applications. We are constantly innovating in the ways we conduct early formulation of products and differentiate our offerings by using innovative software and hardware technologies. We use the latest AWS technologies, data approaches, and ML to build distributed, highly available systems to achieve our goals. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Participating deeply in all aspects of software development lifecycle, including developing verifiable requirements, creating/documenting/implementing software architectures and designs, writing planning specifications, systems integration, test development and execution, deployment, issue resolution and maintenance

Designing and developing intuitive user interfaces to support designers and engineers
-
Sharing knowledge and experience in performance, scalability, software system architecture, and engineering standard methodologies

Working alongside designers and developing intuitive user interfaces for a variety of use cases, including enterprise applications for engineers and designers and customer-facing applications.

Identifying and championing areas for automation and creating clean workflows and processes.
-
Actively working with product owners and scrum masters to support sprint planning and backlog grooming sessions.

Producing top-tier user documentation for defining the architecture of systems and their interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
BA/BS in computer science, information science, or related field; or equivalent practical experience
-
At least 2 years developing data-driven products, including web-based services or products
-
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including object-oriented design and the ability to translate domain expertise into applications

Experience ingesting and manipulating data from a wide variety of sources including APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, files. etc.

Obsession with quality and customer experience attention to detail coupled with strong ability for abstract thinking
-
Mastery of version control systems (git, svn, etc.)

Ability to take technical ownership, step in to help and mentor team members as needed, collaborate with team members to identify and fix technical problems

Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

Experience leading a major project from inception to production including owning its requirements, architecture, design, implementation, with contribution from fellow developers

Preferred Qualifications:

Aerospace/systems engineering experience and/or experience developing software in an aerospace environment
-
Python or Javascript/Typescript as a primary language
-
Experience with ReactJS or similar front-end web technologies
-
Experience with GraphQL endpoints
-
Experience with data-manipulation, plotting, and simulation libraries, such as Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, SciKitLearn, SimPy, Salabim, etc.

Experience with parallel/concurrent computation technologies and architectures
-
Experience with AWS Services including RDS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, Fargate, S3
-
Familiar with Infrastructure as Code and relevant technologies

Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes or other relevant containerization technologies
-
Understanding of authentication and security strategies
-
Experience developing 2d and 3d visualizations utilizing modern frameworks such as d3.js or graph.js
-
Project management experience, delivering results on-time and on-budget
Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $115,290.00-$161,406.00
Other site ranges may differ

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
