The Manager, Global EHS&S Digital Systems and Data, as the Corporate EHS&S Center of Excellence Subject Matter Expert, will provide leadership for the oversight and direction of the digital EHS&S management systems, data management and analytics program at Stepan Company based on corporate strategies. The Manager is responsible for coordinating continual improvement and compliance efforts, driving risk reduction initiatives and overseeing adherence to regulatory requirements, company standards and selected industry standards related to EHS&S digital management system matters for all Stepan locations. This position reports directly to the VP, Global Environment, Health, Safety and Security Center of Excellence.
Subject matter expertise (SME)
• Lead development, implementation, governance, sustainment, and continual improvement of corporate EHS&S digital management systems, including technology transformation and standards/procedures/tools and templates based on regulatory requirements as well as industry standards and programs as decided by corporate management.
• Responsible for continual improvement of data collection and management through data gathering, organizing and maintaining data to meet compliance based and voluntary reporting requirements related to EHS&S and operational Sustainability. Oversee tracking, quality assurance, validation and analysis.
• Develop and deploy effective, visual performance management programs, dashboards, reports and other data analytics tools.
• Develop training programs to educate employees about data gathering, quality assurance and validation to meet applicable regulatory requirements as well as quality assurance requirements.
• Support EHS&S Center of Excellence subject matter experts, Legal counsel and EHS&S Operations with continual development of the corporate EHS&S digital system and data management to be more effective, efficient and right-sized.
Due diligence and integration
• Be responsible, upon request and in coordination with the VP Global EHS&S Center of Excellence, and legal counsel, for digital EHS&S management systems pre-, and post-acquisition/divestment system integration question and issues.
Representation and communication
• Develop and support internal communication strategies for key stakeholders that build and maintain awareness of, and engagement for, EHS&S and Sustainability values, strategies, and performance.
• Provide effective data management and visual performance management tools.
• Maintain, improve and align EHS digital information and communication platforms.
• Global administration, process maintenance and improvement, resource and budget modeling, change control, IT governance partnerships and future system expansion.
• Review system deployment plan and new capability requests and update plan in coordination with project team to meet business needs.
Reporting and metrics
• Support in developing, tracking and maintaining EHS&S metrics, key performance indicators and reports
• Provides timely performance reporting and technical data and other information to be used for updates to company senior management and other stakeholders as requested.
Team leadership
• Effectively manage assigned team professionals including talent development and mentoring for such professionals.
• Develops and leads teams consisting of internal staff and contractors as appropriate to implement and deploy the management system.
Qualifications
• 8 years of relevant experience, preferably within the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, biochemical, or other process industries.
• Must have proven EHS&S management systems experience, data management expertise on a global scale.
• Must demonstrate skills in leadership, project management, communications, teamwork, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility and an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in an effective manner
• Ability to effectively collaborate across technical disciplines at all levels throughout the organization
• Adherence to schedules, scopes, and budgets, as well as Stepan’s project management and quality standards.
• Strong verbal, written communication, and technical writing skills; effective group speaking and presentation skills
• Formal education/certification in data management and analytics is preferred.
Education
• Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related discipline.
