Job Description
The Product Master Data Specialist orchestrates and executes master data delivery across the enterprise by coordinating with the Data Custodians, Data Stewards and Data Domain Owner(s). The core responsibilities are to ensure that all relevant data is properly organized, consistent and accessible across multiple business functions, systems and applications. Additional responsibilities include defining and enforcing policies and procedures for managing data, collaborating in data quality initiatives, and ensuring data security and usage across the Olympus ecosystem.
This role will work with the Data Owner Lead (Domain) to manage the data flows, maintain the metadata catalogue between business domain(s), processes and IT solutions. The Product Master Data Specialist (Domain) will help drive forward continuous improvement of data management standards, engage with various stakeholders, and ensure compliance with all data related governance and assurance policies, processes, and protocols.
Job Duties
- Create and maintain reusable frameworks for data ingestion, validation, standardization, normalization, and transformation.
- Implementing corrections, updates, improvements, and enrichment of master data.
- Contribute to the design and development of actionable reporting that monitors and identifies data requirements, challenges, and opportunities.
- Support business functions in the analysis and enrichment of master data elements.
- Contribute to data management optimization activities and make improvement recommendations such as:
- Proposing and planning initiatives for process optimization.
- Ensure data services are operated, monitored, supported, and maintained.
- Document and maintain data map(s) and dataflows within the MDM organization and advises on contextualized data to create business reporting.
- Contribute to data flow optimization between data domain and consumers.
- Collaborate cross-domain to create relevant SLAs and KPIs.
- Collaborate across business domains, providing advice on how to leverage master data to support strategic initiatives and goals.
- Drive implementation of formal data governance practices by working closely with business and technology domains to ensure harmonization of data across business lines.
- Participate in business risk & impact assessment for all initiatives.
- Work with the Data Lead(s) (Domain) to develop data governance, quality, and security policies and practices to ensure the integrity, security, safety, and availability of all forms of data and data structures.
- Ensure compliance with data related policies, roles and responsibilities and adoption of requirements.
- Research the latest Data Management best practices, principles, and processes; proposing any remediation actions as needed.
- Ensure classification of data/metadata adheres to internal and external regulations.
- Design and implement solutions to ensure data consolidation and cleansing from across the organization into a single, consistent data storage platform.
- Work with MDM tools for ingestion, cleansing of erroneous and distribution of product/customer/supplier master data, while adhering to data quality standards.
- Participate in the product/customer/supplier/data quality data curation processes.
- Responsible (as a strategic steward of the data) for ensuring product/ customer data generated is of the appropriate quality to enable re-use across the organization.
- Analyze product/customer operational, transactional, and other data sets to adhere to standards.
- Work with the Data Lead (Domain) to maintain and own the product/ customer data and traceability mappings, in coordination with data custodians and data stewards.
- Prepare details business analysis for system changes, outlining problems, opportunities and business requirements.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Information Systems, Statistics, Applied Math, Business Administration (or equivalent and related experience preferred).
- Minimum of 5-10 years working experience in data governance, product data, data architecture, data science.
- Deep understanding of master data management, data governance, and associated technologies.
- Experience in Medical Technology, FMCG, or CPG experience.
Preferred:
- Extensive experience of owning/working with product or customer data and lineage/traceability mappings (in a Global setting, preferred).
- Experience in an Agile IT environment (preferred).
- Ability to analyze and resolve data inconsistencies.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to influence without direct authority.
