J.P. Morgan’s Global Research Center (GRC) was set up in Mumbai in August 2003 as an extension of the firm’s global equity research teams around the world. GRC has grown steadily and the team of analysts has expanded to provide coverage for the key sectors globally. Besides working with J.P. Morgan’s equity research teams, GRC Analysts are now engaged with other areas of public side research including fixed income research, strategy, derivatives, commodities, quant and indices.

Securitized Products Research team in GRC supports the North America structured finance research teams based in New York. The teams publish research on primary issuance, secondary trading, current developments and tracking performance (of credit issuing entity and underlying collateral) in asset backed securities, non-agency mortgage backed securities and commercial mortgage backed securities. Work includes developing and publishing weekly data-files, maintaining databases, producing quarterly performance trackers, updating pitch-books, addressing one-off client requests, writing commentary, as well as, contributing to sector handbooks and semi-annual market outlooks.

 

Job responsibilities:

  1. Developing and preparing daily, weekly and monthly publications 
  2. Assisting the onshore team with writing and data-files
  3. Maintaining MS Access and Excel databases
  4. Running the broadly distributed trackers and analytics
  5. Consistently interacting with onshore teams and tracking market developments to pro-actively handle client request and research pieces

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

 

  1. Strong programming skills are required, especially Python and R
  2. Degree in computer science, statistics or mathematics is preferred
  3. Knowledge of Excel/MS Access/SQL/VB macros is required
  4. Keen interest in credit markets (especially structured finance)
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  6. Analytical frame of mind with attention to detail
  7. A strong motivation for learning and standardizing processes

 

Ideal candidates for this position would be dual-degree engineers/ economics postgraduates from reputed institutions.
