We are the Battlefield Central Tech Team (BCT), the technical nucleus powering the acclaimed Battlefield franchise. BCT is home to a remarkable team of technical talent building Battlefield technology on EA’s proprietary game engine, Frostbite. We are part of a suite of global studios creating connected experiences for players in the Battlefield universe. Functioning as the conduit between time zones to propel our work forward, this team will advocate for excellence in our boundary-breaking development and will be important to the success of the Battlefield series. This role is located out of the Montreal, Quebec market.

Head of MI/ML

Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the AI and ML strategy for the multi-Studio Battlefield franchise to significantly improve developer workflows and player-facing features.
  • Collaborate with EA-wide AI and ML experts across Frostbite, data and analytics teams, advanced R&D teams, EA SPORTS, and other EA game development team counterparts to build a Battlefield and EA understanding of opportunities in AI and ML domains.
  • Build, deploy, and monitor AI and ML pipelines and systems using state-of-the-art tools and frameworks.
  • Conduct experiments, analyze results, and communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior executives and technology leaders.
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and trends in AI and ML and apply best practices to improve existing models and workflows.
  • Champions and builds a culture of experimentation and data-driven innovation while always advocating for our strategic goals and doing what is right for our players.
  • Flexible and willing to support emergent and difficult needs through investigation and problem solving.
  • Focused on applying research in Battlefield production in collaboration with the Battlefield software engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of industry experience in Machine Learning, with 3+ years leading organization wide projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates deep practical knowledge in modern machine learning lifecycle.
  • 4+ years of programming experience in at least one of the following: Python/Java/Go with ability to rapidly prototype ideas and refine towards production.
  • Demonstrates deep practical knowledge of large-scale ML systems.
  • Experience with one of the cloud platforms AWS/GCP/Azure.
  • Demonstrates experience in using advanced SQL queries and writing/optimizing highly efficient SQL queries.
  • Experience managing robust Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for machine learning models and applications using Jenkins, Docker, Git, etc.
  • Experience with design, implementation, and performance tuning of ML models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, be comfortable presenting to large audiences of various degrees of technical expertise.
  • Advanced degree (M.S.), or equivalent industry experience in software engineering, computer science, machine learning or related fields
  • Experience in Gaming industry.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):

º $185,300 – $278,800 USD Annually

  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):

º $172,100 – $278,800 USD Annually

  • Jersey City, NJ :

º $217,900 – $278,800 USD Annually

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):

º $180,100 – $237,200 USD Annually

  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):

º $172,100 – $271,200 USD Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
