Intern (AI lab)

The AI Lab at UL Solutions is seeking an intern to work on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning projects. 

Project Objective: To develop and implement an internal review protocol that ensures that the AI application being developed is in line with the EU AI Act and the AI RMF Playbook provided by NIST.

• Drive own work in a team data science project end-to-end: from data analysis to model training and microservice deployment
• Write clean and maintainable Python code
• Test software and fix bugs
• Participate in code reviews
• Conduct additional data science tasks as required, including but not limited to training data expansion, coordinating data annotation with our annotation vendor, training and deploying models

• Student of Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics or a related field
• Strong Python coding skills
• Understanding of NLP advanced techniques for text classification, entity recognition and/or text summarization
• Interest and/or experience in neural methods of NLP, including word embeddings
• Interest in design software architecture
• Ability to write robust and testable code
• An analytical mind with problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A strong desire to learn new Machine Learning algorithms and approaches
• A passion for learning how to take experimental code to the next level and turn it into efficient and elegant production code
