Job Profile
The Bank’s Internal Audit Department plays a key role in the risk management process of the Bank. Our mandate is to provide independent and objective assurance over the design and operation of the Bank’s internal controls and to advise senior management on improvements to the Bank’s operations.
The role of the Data Analyst is leverage existing analytical tools and methods to help Audit professionals to execute audits through enhanced data sampling, advanced analytics, continuous monitoring and visualization. As an active member of the team, they will grow in capability, coverage and knowledge to move the team forward.
The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge Python and PowerBI, working knowledge of data analytics and statistical methods, as well as solid working knowledge of data acquisition and transformation (SQL, SAS). As well, the ideal candidate will be able to communicate with Auditors to execute on projects independently and increase engagement.
Key Accountabilities
- Identify, acquire and use large volumes of data to provide incremental business value through data analytics methods and algorithms that help the Internal Audit group execute Audits with greater efficiency, accuracy and coverage
- Assist in the development of the data infrastructure / architecture
- Design and build a data pipeline that cleans, transforms and aggregates unstructured data in organized databases / data sources
- Work with large datasets and distributed computing tools for analysis, data mining and modeling
- Build elegant and user-accessible dashboards and tools
- Collaborate with business lines and other stakeholders to enhance Internal Audit’s use of data and analytics
- Prepare detailed documentation to outline data sources, models and algorithms used and developed, as well as results obtained
- Enhance and acquire skills as needed to move the team forward, especially in areas of GenAI and Machine Learning
Functional Competencies and Education
- Degree in Statistics, Computer Science or related field
- Experience with data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and integration
- Experience with statistical, data processing and analytical tools like R, Python and SAS
- Strong analytical skills
- SQL skills for querying relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, DB2, MySQL)
- Implementing visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate with Auditors and present clear results
- At least 3 years experience with similar tools / functions
