Role: Internal Audit Data Scientist Lead

Location: Austin, TX, or Redwood City, CA. This is a hybrid role in either location.

Note: This position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain US federal government security clearance (secret level or higher).

ABOUT THE TEAM 

Oracle’s Business Assessment & Audit team (BA&A) is responsible for providing enterprise risk management services on behalf of the executive management team and board of Oracle Corporation as well as its publicly traded subsidiaries. These responsibilities are performed through conducting broad business risked-based audits (operational/financial/IT/compliance – focused) of Oracle’s global processes and subsidiaries. The BA&A function currently has approximately 50 members globally. The team is a mix of highly specialized process, information technology/privacy and data analytics professionals in providing business/consulting advisory services.

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Proactively develop and analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders, BA&A team members and BA&A leadership, with an eye on what drives business performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and/or productivity.
  • Spearhead innovation and generate business insights through the use of existing and new data and business intelligence technologies. Train team members on various DA topics, including updating process documents / SOPs, and the library of use cases, etc. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the team members to verify data quality and pull needed information.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist the team in the planning, development and execution of data analysis (data cleaning, preparation, visualizations, etc.) as part of planning for audit projects, including some oversight over DA junior staff to create scalable and repeatable data analytics.
  • Provide support on the existing data analytics environment and existing Visualization / Reporting Dashboard environments.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain analytical procedures using analytics tools, programming languages, Data Visualization (DV) and other technologies (e.g., Robotic Process Automation tools) to deliver solutions that improve effectiveness and efficiency of the Internal Audit function in delivering successful audits and process reviews.
  • Pilot and deploy advanced data analytics tools & techniques using artificial intelligence and machine learning.  Apply your understanding of machine learning principles, including advanced analytics tools to design, build and support machine learning to achieve high quality generative AI user experiences.  
  • Train users, document analytical procedures and report engagement progress to audit management and business stakeholders. 
  • Assist in obtaining data from various company systems and use business intelligence and organizational tools to design analytical procedures that support conclusions and various process improvement initiatives. 
  • Engage in frequent interactions with technical team (IT supporting, business systems, etc.) to understand source data, data flows / system maps and various applications.
  • Work closely with technical / functional experts in LOB’s / IT teams to help understand and support IA objectives, strategize next steps and determine resources (people, tech, etc.) needed to successfully execute and delivery audits on time.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum 8+ years DA audit or consulting experience in a role that supported business process and/or operational audits.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (verbal and written) in English are critical. Advanced interviewing skills are required.
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives, and to coordinate and perform multiple tasks/projects/team initiatives simultaneously, balancing priorities and deliverables.
  • Competent interpersonal skills, able to lead projects and mentor others.
  • Ability to evaluate business processes and IT technology, identify risks and evaluate controls. 
  • Advanced investigative and analytical skills, along with knowledge of auditing processes and procedures.
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with process owners across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Effectively coordinate with team members in different time zones.
  • Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required, plus experience working with computer-aided auditing, continuous monitoring and data analytics and data visualization tools required (i.e. Alteryx, IDEA, Excel, Tableau, etc.). Ability to code in SQL, Python required.
  • CISA, or relevant professional certifications preferred. 
  • Experience with Cloud, software/hardware accounting and business processes highly desirable.  
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

US: Hiring Range: from $109,100 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
